I'm going for it, Kinda Budget Crazy Build

For anyone that doesn't know me, I'm a tad obsessive

Any ways, tis drag season, I'm building an absolutely nothing matches hope to hell it holds together drag car.

The engine is getting rebuilt
the trans is getting rebuilt
the rearend is going to die a horrible death (did i mention IDGAF)
looking forward to a stiff NHRA fine, NOT!!!!

I'm building up my boring 355 cam that loped (boring I want extreme race specs)
Aluminum heads.............

when the rearend poo's out I should have a fully streatable if you like back pain from shifts, and manual shifting..... build.

I want to see how long the stock rearend holds... because they want money for those things,
the interior is a combination I have never seen in a 3rd gen car and WICKED INMHO, may post a spereate thread it's so cool. i love it,
And I have under 3k invested in a 7sec stock pos rear car 1/8th mile car

It's nothing ridiculous but if anybody wants any pics or info, whatever it's cool.....
I got a recent rust problem I got a bunch of tar repair roof paint (did I mention it's MY car?) and i think I can't fix it darn near oem......

I'm going outside to finish the interior, stupid tornado yesterday stopped me cold with one bolt left to go and it would have been gutted!!!!

I don't mind to work in the rain for a good cause but my car does, time to put her inside.... just had to open up a bay with room, had a tractor and 2 grand prix's taking up space.

im not one to condone destruction of stock parts, i would reinforce the stock rear with a cclip eliminators, a mini spool, cast cover, and perhaps better axles. ive gone hi 10's with a reinforced stock rear end. so unless u plan on going faster than 10.75, with a auto. i dont see the need for a 9in. or 12 bolt.
i have set of heads and intake that will make all the power u can handle

I've done everything to the rearend but the axle swap... and girdle cover.
eaton mini spool.
I'm gutting the interior, Ive got it all ready to go back in now, the trans is out, I've got 2 identical engines, haven't decided which to build yet.

I was going through my old car and found a set of .60 over rings, a set of brand new pioneer speakers, a weatherstrip set for a hard top, and 10 bucks in change under the seats!!!

the rear is beefed up some then, even if u are hooking hard, it will take some punishment, the ppl who usually tear up ther stock rears are going at it with d.radials and 6k clutch dumps. i would nevr do that to my t56 cars on the track. ive done on the street, just messing around but it just makes smoke and scares off the mustangs and ricers.
build the engine that can use a hyd. roller.

Re: I'm going for it, Kinda Budget Crazy Build

Looks like I'm going fro a full manual valve body in the trans, 3,800 stall (spec'd to my engine) and a trans brake, and get 4.56 gears for rear (they are for a 7.5in, i hope they work without major modification) get a girdle rear cover.

Yes I'm going hydrolic roller.
little mods like header cutouts, and new cheater slicks are in order (open to suggestions on this)
and a ratchet shifter that would be asthetically pleasing has been a challenge to find as well. (for the th-350)

I'm going downstairs to clean and prep the new seats right now. (gonna shoot the metal mounts black, and put on all new plastic if they are faded or cracked)

The 10-bolt still sucks ***, you've been lucky. When 10-bolts are breaking with stock power and slicks or D/R's there's something wrong. Most of them don't last in the 10's.

I'm also in the flog on it until it breaks club. Only thing is it's my understanding that if you go lower than a 3:73 gear the pinion is so little it will shell. Either way, flog it til it breaks!

looking for a cheap reinforced cover, but if the rearend won't hold I'm not sure if I wanna keep putting money in it.
