5.0 takedowns?

Wondering if anyone has had the privilege of running a new 5.0 yet. The hype is so high i would like to know how ppl have done against them. There is one in my town i just recently saw, but only 1 so far. (that i have seen) Post up your stories, I'm sure lots of other ppl are wondering the same thing as me.

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

I tried to keep up with a 2011 V6...sadly they were just driving normally, and my 2.8 could not, for the life of it, keep up with it on the freeway on-ramp.

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

haven't run into one yet but if I do, my mild heads/cam Z28 shouldn't have too much trouble with one

how do you tell the difference between the non-5.0s and the 2011s?

^^^The new ones went back to the 5.0 on the fenders where the GT used to be.

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

They're basically the same straightline performance as a new SS Camaro. So if you can take an LS3 Camaro, you can most likely take a new 5.0

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

I am down to a couple SBC engines, and might sell them both.

I want to run a new 5 oh from a dig, but it has not happened yet.

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

They are pretty impressive. Stock times are 4.3-4.7 0-60 and 12.7-12.9 1/4 at 112ish. Evan Smith recently ran 12.4 with just radials. Time to mods my little ls1

Re: 5.0 takedowns?

I'm actually curious if the parts guy I deal with has a modded 5.slow. It looks pretty sleeper to me.
