from a dig you may have a chance (stoplight to stoplight)

from a roll hes probably going to get you just because we lack the topend

ive never raced one but this is what i would think would happen.

good luck

Unless the person with the Charger can't drive, I'm 90% sure you'll lose. I have a '09 Challenger R/T with a 5.7 Hemi and it's quite a bit faster than any stock gen1 350. You might not even get him from a dig. But I'm interested to know if this has been tried too.

should be a close race, charger rt has more power but weighs almost 4100 pounds so all that weight cost you a lot of pony's. raced an rt with my old iroc that ran 13.9's with nitto's and I out ran it on both ends but not by a bunch.

my friend just sold his charger srt8 , it ran a best of 13.38 with street tires and a 60ft of 2.04. it was 425 hp if that gives you an idea.

Re: 2008 charger rt vs 89 formula 350

Here is an excerpt from http://www.insideline.com/pontiac/g8...iac-g8-gt.html

"The best acceleration runs in the Charger (which weighs just 29 pounds more than the G8) were accomplished by simply stabbing the accelerator and hanging on. The run from zero to 60 mph took a respectable 6.1 seconds, with the quarter-mile consumed in 14.5 seconds at 97 mph."

Which if I remember correctly is the exact same time the '87 Iroc ran in the quarter mile and only one-tenth of a second faster than what the Iroc ran. I think if you take the Irocs age into consideration (unless you recently rebuilt the engine or it is low mileage) than the Charger wins otherwise it would be very close. Taking into consideration your Firebird is an '89 350 it might be a little bit faster therefore having a better chance of beating the Charger.

It should be a close race. Post the results! Wait are you racing anybody? You never really specified that you are or not.

Might depend on the Charger R/T. The '08 base had 340hp. If it had the track pack it got a better exhaust giving it 10hp more. There is no way of knowing if it got this package just by looking at it. This is the same package that the Daytonas got without the appirance package. In '09 hp for the base R/T went up to 370.

I don't know how similar the Charger RTs are compared to the Challenger R/Ts, but I raced one several times at the track and we were dead even most of the time. I'd get him off the line, and he would trap about 1mph faster than I would.

This is one of the runs we did.

The 109 comment isn't true, it was 103.x I'd have to look up the run for the exact MPH.

My best that day is currently my avatar, he didn't run that fast all day long. But he DID trap near 105 on a few runs. So technically his car was faster.

A stock L98 thirdgen would have no chance against the Challenger R/Ts.

I just looked up the weight/power, and they are similar enough. Both would out-run a stock L98 car no problem.
