Word got out so next up ls1 87ta vs v6 92 civic hatch

Well I posted about racing my friends semi built integra that we are currently building for boost this month and gave him a bruised ego.Well last night quite a few of the local racers and tuners were hanging out at a nearby tim hortons and I stopped by.My friend with the integra was making a few jokes about his loss and one comment was along the lines of fastest ta in these parts lol.Which its not but it raised a few eye brows since it sounds so quiet and now ppl know its not a 305. I had my windows down and sitting in the car watching videos on my carputer and guys always drool over it when my friend friend says with all that weight its a miracle it pull itself to a gas station. Now normally Id laugh and shrug it off but i saw that he had his car out.Ive wanted to race him long ago when I had my 383 hsr but sadly that motor didnt perform worth a damn.

Heres whats done to the civic.
Tl type s v6 and 6speed swap, motor sticks out of the hood lol
titanium intake and exhaust...all v band $$$
car is gutted, dash and front seats
10 point cage
full skunk 2 racing suspension
nsx brakes

My mods are in my sig.
I asked him if hes willing to take a loss to a pos amercian muscle and this time he agrees and from a dig.I dont believe in roll racing.By now the trash talking and joking around has everyone else egging things on and picking a street.heres the killer...as we all start to get into our cars..cops start slowly rolling through the parking lot and sitting there waiting for us all to leave. So civic dude calls me and we know its a bad night to run but the race is good to go when we can arrange a time and place.Should be interesting win or lose.

Yes,those motors do not take well to boost and there isnt alot of supporting mods for them or tuners. The only thing that has me worried is his power to weight. From a dig i know i can pull him out of the hole but my 3.23 gear is holding me back.Ive seen his car pull pretty from a roll but they arent high rpm revving motors.I might be grabbing a go pro cam and mount it on the car this weekend and maybe try to line up with him for some fun.

Nope not yet.I know its such a shame lol.Might get er done this weekend if the weather holds up.But Im starting to hear the excuses already of postponing the race.As in I live far...(when is 30mins too far is a semi quick car) and hes afraid of driving it around my area because of cops pulling him over with the motor sticking out of the hood.Im more than sure Ill take him.. I just dont want to do it too harshly so that the other guys he knows might try to run me for some cash. The ls1 is great on gas but i cant seem to part my foot from the floor boards with it and how much fun it is lol.My wallet doesnt agree with it though.

thos j series motors run pretty good. theres a kid in my town with a rhd delsol and its pretty quick, but on the same note my friend wrecked him in his 34 ford coupe with a roller 350.

Re: Word got out so next up ls1 87ta vs v6 92 civic hatch

Soooooo......I won

But I had my hands full for awhile lol.The weather has been crap with alot of rain and last night dried up enough.A bunch of us were at the same local tim hortons and dude in the hatch came specifically to run me.When we were all leaving and pulled onto the street,me and him lined up at the next set of lights.Being as it was semi damp still he asked for a 10 km/h roll.So the light turns green and we both hit 10km/h and punch it.

Now he gains on me about 3/4 car before my ls1 hits its power band.He rips first and shifts into second and I begin to reel him back in.I hit second hard and now we he is 1/2 car infront. He hits third and I again gain on him and hit third aswell and now Im pulling on him.I ride third gear and about to shift to 4th but shut it down and He was about a car behind.

he pulls out and we both laugh and agreed it was a good race. His car pulls well on the bottom but its top end and gearing is a lil too short for my liking.I was pumped after the race.I think both our cars should be in the mid 13s here, neither of us have been to the track since our swaps. And now I wonder how well i could have pulled him off the line with 3.73 gear or 4.10s.

All in all..good race, cool guy and he is semi quick. And when this motor is built over winter i plan on slaughtering all the imports guys at my local spot since Im the only v8 in the crowd lol.

that's not exactly a good win for an LS1, anyhow even if you got beat by it, it's still a gay *** civic, i'm so tired of imports with fart cannons, it's GAY.

Re: Word got out so next up ls1 87ta vs v6 92 civic hatch

Wow someone sounds a lil bitter lol.It may not be the best win for a stock ls1,but its a win none the less considering this ls1 is in poor health and knocking bottom end ready to blow and my lack of decent tire.If i had lost I would not be ashamed because in this case..that civic was built right. Its not done up in ridiculous fashion. Its flat black,no tint,no fart cannon, gutted with just the dash and carpet and seats, has the stock radio, stock rims, every performance part put in it was done with quality parts and every bolt I can see has be replaced new in stainless.Money was well spent on it ground up.I respect the time and effort put into it and for the way it performs.Trust me a v6 civic does not sound like other hondas we would come across. Its like an nsx rolling around. The owner was really cool and hes not some kid trying to act a fool.

Even with my ls1 running as bad as it is,other hondas have not been a challenge so Im happy that this one would put up a fight.Imo its a good kill. When the motor goes under the knife, thats when ill be more confident in taking on other guys in v8s and surprise a few people thinking its just a 305 under the hood.

Re: Word got out so next up ls1 87ta vs v6 92 civic hatch

^ Awesome I love a well built car. And yes the V6s sound ultra sexy reving up. Not sure why so many people are brand / car snobs. Whats the big deal if someone wants to mod a car that is not meant to be a race car. Hell I have seen a Geo Metro that would probably spank 98% of the cars on this board and personally raced a low 12 sec 1990 civic hatch that was amazing and looked almost completely stock with the exception of a small exhaust tip and wider front tires. Hell check this sleeper in Hot Rod Magazine.

http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl..._si/index.html

I thought that is what original hot rods were about taking smaller low HP cars and putting a bigger powerful engine in it.

Exactly.i respect any car and its owner who puts in that much work time effort money into a car that they are passionate about.it doesnt have to be super fast if its a clean ride or a complete sleeper.
