me vs a 90 probe GT turbo 4 banger....could he win if he boosted his turbo up to 10.8

me vs a 90 probe GT turbo 4 banger....could he win if he boosted his turbo up to 10.8
i gotta friend that has a 90 probe gt...its a nice little car but he thinks its a racer and it startin to **** me off.....one day he tells me he knows his car isnt that fast and he is gonna "pimp" it out...but then he starts tellin me all this crap about boosting his boost to 10.8 psi and puttin a lil cold air induction thing on his car that the people on his message board said would make a BIG difference....well do you guys think he would have a chance against me
we have raced b4 and i KILL!!! him off the start and then when that turbo kicks in his acceleration is about as good as mine but by then he is 3 or 4 car lengths behind me....my car has not had a tune up in like 4 years but it was sitting for 3 of the 4 years...and i think it might need some carb work cuz 2nd gear takes FOREVER to get through!!!
well anyway what my point is....what could i do to make my car faster...i just added a hooker exhaust to my car like 2 days ago ( i raced him with my old STOCK exhaust)....and i am hopeing to do a cold air induction but i dont know how to do it the best...i was going to run it to the side fender wall and down to the undercarage, but then the air would b all twisted and it probably wouldnt help me much...right??
well if any of you know where i could run a cold air induction for my CARBED L69 or any other performance tips please resond!!!

First power mod.. a TUNE UP!! You say the car's been sitting for 3 years? Automatically... oil change, coolant flush/new thermostat, new hoses/belts. Brakes may probably need rebuilding too-not necessarily for power, but to stop! Possibly replace spark plugs/wires, check the timing.
What good is a high flowing exhaust if you don't have proper combustion and the engine runs rough? Tune the carburetor for air/fuel mixture and idle speed (can you do this on the computer controlled carbs? I still havent figured it out on mine.) If its a high miles engine...maybe even change the timing chain.
Start with the basics, then add the power-adders, you'll be better off!

My friend had a front wheel drive turbo eclipse, and he had to boost at 28LBS and he olny ran a 14.2, thats pretty $hity.

I was jut going on what he told me about the boost. He did have a bigger turbo...but if that's impossible to run that much I'll believe you. I'm taking the Formula to the track on Saturday and I'll post the times on the TPI board.

I'd worry a little about your friend's turbo 4 banger, if he gets someone who knows what they're doing to set up a bleed/boost controller and cold air, IT WILL give him alot more power.
I know of a guy with a talon/eclipse AWD running 24psi into the stock heads/cams/engine/etc. just an upgraded turbo/fuel/intercooler?(probably).
My advice would be worry about your car going faster than 15.9, b/c you're the favorite victim of all those rice burners, A LOT of them that aren't total posers run mid 15s to high 14s around here (FL). I'm sure they'd just love to beat up on a stock camaro or firebird.

If he says he's running 28 lbs of boost on the street, then he's definitely lying. If he's lying about how much boost he's running he might be lying about his turbo also. Who knows, maybe he's lying about his timeslip, too (although 14.2 is very believable). This probe guy reminds me of my friend with a early 90's dodge daytona turbo. He cranked up the boost to 15lbs, put exhaust on, a bigger throttle body, and some suspension mods. He still gets spanked every time by my buddies 96 monte Z34 (stock). He wont even try against me 'cause he knows what'll happen.
Give your car a tuneup, and hang out in the carb board. Some of those L69's are pretty quick when everything is all tuned up. Anyone can take a piece of sh*t and put a turbo on it, and in the end all you have is a turbocharged piece of sh*t. Remember the turbo sunbird...LOL

alright well i dont really know how to tune these kinda carbs
if it were a holley my bro could do it in no time
is there any place where i could take it to and they could do the timing and the fuel mixture and all that stuff
my first gear feels really fast but my second feels really slow and thats why i think my car might not b running at max performance
and no i WISH SOO MUCH that mine were a stick but i gotta 700R4.....but someday i will drop in a 2500 stall and a better motor and that will make things better
then he wont have a chance!!!
