88 V6 vs Escort ZX2

I usually don't like to race because my 2.8 V6 is pretty slow, but this 16 year old kid who works at McDonalds kept telling me his brand new ZX2 that tops out at 140mph (he says) could whip me.Okay so I'm leaving the drive-thru and he's waiting for me on the side of the street,he guns it when I get beside him about 10mph so I floor and by 3rd gear I had him by 1 car length on him,I slowed at 60mph and he does a fly-by.Later that day he says he'll beat me when he gets his exhaust and cold air intake,by then I'll have my IROC and really smoke him.I would have stopped eating there if I lost to a Ford Escort. Sorry so long,i'm just relieved I didn't lose to him.

I thought they were kinda weak but i checked the magizine times for them and the 0-60 is supposedly like 7.4 with a 15.? quartermile?? I was surprised they could evne go that fast.

some punk kid in my school whose got one tried to race me when i was in my moms V8 4runner and going up a huge hill i stayed on his *** but once it flattened out i started to pull on him hard. My L03 woulda burnt him.... Then agian..i dont know if it was an auto or 5speed, and if it was a 5speed, im pretty sur ethe kid couldnt use it properly.

With a cold air kit and exhaust he will gain about 5 to 10 hp. You will still own him.

My friend has one with a 5 speed that runs 16.1 in the 1/4 with free mods.
not exactly fast, but the 5 speed cars come with 4.10 gearing factory so they move pretty well off the line for a 4 cylinder car..

They are slow and don't have a lot of potential. If you've got just an IROC, I'd almost NEVER be afraid of one.

I have a great story about a zx2. Well one of the guys I work with has a friend with a zx2 and it supposed to have some mods and my friend (who also works with me at the shop) has a 02 jeep wrangler, a 00 GTP, and a 89 TB SC.
Well this guy comes in talking smack about how zx2 are the fastest and easiest cars to mod in the world. To get to the end of the story quicker the zx2 lost to the 02 jeep wrangler with 31" tires on it (4.0l 5spd 3.07 gears). It was the saddest thing I had ever seen.

A week after that we caught him in my friends GTP. Well GTP can give a zx2 a 3 second headstart and have it by 80mph. Give the Zx2 a 40mph roll and have it by 100mph. It was another sad day. But this kid won't quit, I can't wait to catch him in my camaro someday.

Its not a sad day when a ZX2 loses to a GTP. The GTP has twice the power of the Escort. They'll beat most stock thirdgens and give the 350 cars a good run.

ZX2's run high 15s to low 16s with a good driver and a 5spd. So do the TBI cars. The L03 might have the jump off the line, but that Escort should catch and probably pass the thirdgen around the 1/4 mark.

Who street races to 60mph anyways?

GTP had been racing an eclipse before the zx2...

The GTP had been racing an eclipse before the zx2, heatsoak.
Also, the kid tried to say that the SC was a 16 second car. It has a few mods, but not a lot. I have personally seen it take down late model 4.6 mustangs. This kid is crazy.
