2001 suburban V.S. 89 TTA

what would happen if a tta stock raced the 1/4 on the street against a suburban witha supercharger? It has come to my attetion recently, that suburbans with superhargers would beat my "future"13 sec iroc..So would the suburban win?

thanks

i dont thin k thats gonna happen...go to www.tbyrne.com and check out their cars. he had one with the 6.0 and a whipple charger and i think it went low 15's. he now has an 02 with the 8.0 litre and a whipple charger and it should og deep into the 14's. gotta realize those trucks are very heavy.

I don't see how the Suburban would win, I'm assuming it weighs just a TAD more than the TTA.

that depends on whether the suburban has a bigger cam, weight reductions and if its 2 wheel drive or not. Odds are this is the dumbest topic ever and Im now even more retarded for having read it.

PS- I thought your IROC was gonna be in the 12s

or are you just a LIAR

here is a post from LS1.com about a supercharged suburban- enjoy

Life with a supercharged 8.1
Finally had a chance to wrap up most of the mods in the truck tonight and take it out for a first drive. The first thing I noticed is the truck is much more responsive - even at only 1/4 throttle. Cruised about a mile down the street, took a right and at about 20 MPH I gradually layed into the throttle. What happened? Something that you usually don't get from a 3/4 ton Suburban - tirespin! I didn't even hammer it, that came from just rolling into the throttle. I stayed in it until the speedo was pegged past 100 and it didn't take to long to get there.

Driveability is very good. You can't hear the supercharger at idle but you do get a little whine as the RPMs increase (not as loud as a MagneCharger). I want the exhaust on this truck to remain quiet. Everything else I own makes noise so I'd like to have one vehicle that you can't hear coming down the street. The stock manifolds were replaced with a set of The Other Guy's Headers and they didn't really change the exhaust tone to much. The stock tailpipe/tip will be replaced with a Corsa assembly next week but the factory muffler will stay where it is.

I'll have more pictures and details posted on the website tomorrow afternoon.

Tom

ya Tom is like a kid in a candy store! i've been for rides in most of his cars including his 10sec (soon to be in the 9's) camaro. i wouldnt be surprised in the least ih the 8.0 with the whipple charger makes over 600 ft pounds of torque.

Power to weight. What's the suburban weigh? At least 6,000 lbs...

Watch out for big trucks! The lightnings are pretty quick, and I've seen a few 13 second DIESELs. I would easily believe a 13 second Suburban exhists and I'm sure there are faster ones.

My all time favorite would be a 10 second Excursion. Anyone think it's possible???

sounds like somebodys a little pissed As far as rx7speed is concerned I thought he was on the wrong message board too until I read some of his posts. Yea he drives a rx-7 but he knows his **** and knows when someone is full of I drove an 83 rx-7 for three years and know how good they are, just a little small inside. Lincolnhawk, if you would stop posting dumbass questions dumbass questions maybe we wouldn't have to give you ****. I went back and read your posts from the last couple months and you accuse rx7speed of being bored.

How is RX7 a *****. His car went 12.5, for cheaper than what I have invested in my car. The pic of his car hardly looks like that of a *****. I just wanted to add this pic of a ***** up here at college.

WE warned you last thread to stop with this crap. If youre gonna keep posting crap, we're gonna keep poking holes in it

im going to be friendly this time around and would like to point out that this was a simple question that does not require petty arguing. OH MY ***!! lincolnhawk said 13 second instead of 12! everyone was ragging on him for saying 12 seconds and so he says 13 seconds and guess what...everyone rags on him!Why you say?Immaturity comes to mind, only small children hold grudges based on inconsistencies, grudges that only cause pointless dribbling arguements and posts to be closed. So rx7 owns a nonthirdgen car, ok, but i thought a person had to be older than 10 to drive? Am i wrong because most of you appear to barely be old enough to tie your shoes, let along be helpful and kind to others, but i guess im wrong. N e one want to come over and watch barney so we can argue about lyrical inconsistencies in his songs, or maybe about what shade of purple he is, come on, itll be fun for all us small, immature, bad natured, poorly taught small children!

All I was doing is standing up for someone who seems to know something about cars. Not just mazda's but cars in general. I'm rebuilding the 350 out of my 86 Z-28 because I want it to be faster. I guess I should have just put a big shot of nitrous in like you then I could be in the 12's just like you dumbass

I'm not saying nitorus is dumb. I'm saying that I don't think that it should be the only real mod that shaves 3 seconds of of your 1/4 mile time. I didn't say anything about turbos or blowers. Would love to have a blower but can't afford one.
