Well gentlemen, the topic is respect. I have been a member of this board for the last year( almost). When I found this site, I felt like I found a great place and was warmly welcomed into the fold. It felt good to be able to "talk" to other guys with the same interests. Since I've been a member I have had the pleasure to meet some of you and I am looking forward to meeting more of you at the upcoming events.
Lately, there has been a growing trend to start slamming other members for their comments and/or opinions. What you all need to realize is that we are all different. We all have different opinions, ideas and especially ,personalities. We need to respect that. There are alot of us that feel that the flaming, the lewd comments and the lack of respect shown to, not just the person you are targeting, but to all us members, is unnecessary. We talked about promoting our site at one time, but I would be very hesitant to recommend anyone to sign up for fear that they would be judged as an undesireable to the site. Some of us need to develope a thicker skin and others need to become a little more tolerant.
Face it, we are here because we all love our cars. It's really pretty simple,we love Thirdgen's! I think that there have been a few posts from members that have expressed their displeasure at seeing the flaming and what-not.
I may sound like an old fool but I was raised with the Golden Rule, Treat Other's As You Would Want To Be Treated By Others...and If You Have Nothing Nice To Say, Say Nothing At All.
I apologize to you all if you find my speach to be out of line, but I have been sitting back watching what has been going on and I don't think the Moderators have had to lock as many posts as they have recently. I felt that I should put forward my feelings on this subject. In order to earn respect, you need to show respect.
Kevin

Well said. I will no longer be flaming anyone so that I will actually have someone to talk to on the 21st

I respect those in need of respect. Which is most of you, with the exception of a few who make moronic statements, then they're given moronic replies.

I enjoy talking with the alot of people on this board.
It is through this message board the i have met what you would call my best friend. Now lately certain people have been coming on and taking the quality level of this board down.
I don't put up with that.
I let them know what i think and if that gets me locked or banned, than hey, i have a life off of the computer as well.

Tonnes of people probably hate me , but I don't care, i'm myself and i say what i want.

Some live with it, and some don't. If I flame over the edge, i will appologize. If it was in my mind just, then well... it stands.

Thanks

I agree..Respect those who deserves it..If I was disrespectful give me what I deserve..If I was wrong on something I expect to be told or corrected.Or else make a worse mistake next time.Respect goes without saying..Class on the other hand is something else..THere's no room on this board for acting like spoiled brat and immaturity..Neither does idiots and morons.

To be completely honest after I read a little friendly between a few guys re a walroc I felt I had to do something.

Kev you beat me to it and I'am glad. It's good to know there are others who are in awe as to what's happening on our board lately. It seems over the past few months people have been down each others throats!

This Ontario board has been like a new family to me since February 2002. Brothers with a love and passion for the same car as me. I can't tell you how much I've learned about my car through all of you. If it wasn't for this board I would never have gone to the track, go to a dyno shop or even have friends to talk to about my favorite car, Pontiac Trans Am. Sniff Sniff Choke.....

Respect is earned NOT given. My Dad taught me that since I was a kid. If you can't agree with one's opinion, then walk away if your unable to converse in an adult manner.

Oh ya one more thing....Please use your PM for one to one stand off's. Don't let others have to witness your actions.

On September 21 we'll laugh, eat, drink, hold hands and sing cumbaya my lord, cumbaya.......Everybody! Don't be shy.....

You know what "88"... that is exactly what should be practised here... I had to do that exact same thing, my "friend" was slamming GM products left and right when I say nothing about Fords, in fact I respect his new Taurus SHO and his old Mustang... but he continues to slam GM and saying my Buddy's 1997 Regal GS Supercharged will not do anything less than 14.6 in the 1/4 mile... I had to just walk away, because I would have said something nasty.

So guys, if you don't like. say, stickers, oh well, someone else does, let them be. Some people gave me trouble when I put the 1997 WS6 badge on my back bumper, oh well, its my car and I do what I want to it. If I want to paint it pink like a Barbie GTA, then let me be.. LOL (don't worry, I won't do that... )

Thanx Kevin for bringing this to our attention again... although a similar thread like this was posted a while back, and it seems nothing has changed... hopefully this time things WILL change.

im sorry for the things that i have said(most of them) i sat back for the longest time taking the insults about my car, and finally one day i snapped..a person can only take so much specially when its against something that they have put thousands into.

now i realize i am a newer member them most of you.. and i do also admit that i dont know everything about my car and fbodys for that matter, but the stuff i do know i try and help others out with (reds system problem) by the way hows that working out?

and i am was just getting totally sick of having to defend myself to people who are too narrowminded or opinionated or whatnot to view others opinions..

like it was said b4 we are here because we share a common ground, we like our cars(no matter what we do to them ) but we may not like what others have done but try and use some decency when voicing your opinion we are all human and we all have feelings...it does hurt when you are put down(to me at least anyways)

i have now got to think hard about even making my way to the dragstrip because of all the things that were said..
i want to,, to show my support for you guys, but on the other hand i dont want it to be a big flame war where its 20 against one..

sorry about the novel but i had to get it off my chest..
if i dont see you at the dragstrip have fun and good luck but most importantly BE SAFE..

As if you were ever planning on coming. Every other post you say the car is in storage... or in some shop or something.

I can personally guarantee you that if you do decide to go, none of us will attack you.

i was planning on bringing the roc...but 1.still not back from the exaust shop(dont buy a full hooker system they dont send everything you need to do the job) and 2.still have no clue what is wrong with her..
on a side note i had an oil leak they found the reason..a broken dip stick housing...which is a bonus..

if i arrive i will be coming in either a talon(stock dont get your hopes up) or a nice intrepid..

either way i still wish everyone best of luck and happy runs

johnny i know that nobody would attack me but going behind my back is even worse..not that that would happen though

The way I see it, anybody can put anything on their car. It's THEIR car. But nomatter what there will always be ridicule.
I think the whole SLP banner thing is coming from the fact that anybody can slap a window banner on a 78 mustang and start talking **** about stuff they don't have. personally I don't do stickers at all. I don't bother giving advertisement for company's or my internals. I let people find out the hard way.

It's like the ricers that say they can't race you because they still have their suspension tuned for autocross....

What they really mean is that they forgot to take the stickers for the autocross parts they don't have off the car and replace them with stickers for drag parts they don't have.

I never said anything about your car or what you've done to your car. Guys like you and RevLimit(or whatever) are, at the very least, original. It's your car, do what you please with it. I won't "attack" you or anything assinine like that on the 21st. Like I said, i'm not that guy. I leave that crap to the 5.0L guys. I would imagine your a perfectly nice guy in person as am I

Nope, I'm from GA...just noticed the thread on "Who's Online", and thought it was interesting, considering my girlfriend, Redraif, has one of the most controversial cars on this board.

I have been to Ontario once...Windsor...and I must say its a nice place! I hope to go back some time. The company I work for has a manufacturing plant in Barrie.

Its controversial because of her style...some people call it rice, but she likes it, I like it, and that's all that counts. Would I copy everything she has done on it on my own car? No. However, I am extremely proud of her for her efforts. She is pretty innovative....she doesn't take "no for an answer. Check out this thread for some recent pics:

I always figured it was the stickers that held them together over bumps and on the hiway...

What are you on about buddy ? I've got no issues with you (or anyone else for that matter) and I doubt it very much that anyone else on this board has any REAL issues with you. Get past this stuff that you are on about it sounds like it is getting in your way.

I hope you decide to show on race day. You will certainly make some new friends if not acquaintances and probably have alot of fun. Find a way to bring your IROC many of us would like to see it not to make fun or give a bad time -- we just like to see 3rd gens. Look me up I have the only blue '91 Formula in Ontario region.

Oh yeah, I read once that 20% of people WILL like you no matter what you do, 20% of people WILL NOT like you no matter what you do. The remaining 60% is up for grabs.

my roc is still at the exaust shop..i went to pick it up today...and..it started yay...but then it died again...

so what they found out is that because of the close quarters of the headers and such the positive wire coming from the main wiring harness was getting zapped from the heat of the headers(melting on the headers) and was turning off...its getting fixed now, BUT... and heres the biggie...my car was too low and when they put it on the hoist to get the cat back and headers on they ahh cracked the other side of the skirt(good side) and the other side cracked (bad side) as well due to the pressure...so now i can definately say i wont be there in the roc unless i get a new front cover from fx designs(maybe my sponsorship/whatever with them will get me one for next to nothing) or i may just try and find a stock iroc front end and mod the hell outta that...havent decided...but i do know this...it wont be there for the 23rd this year...but shell be there next year for test and tune...hopefully ill have it out enough so that it will have been back in to torque the nuts on the headers again...

oh btw..from what i heard (3 mins of exaust) she sounds amazing) and i cant imagine how it would have sounded with a lumpier cam(extreme comp one that i wanted)

i will be there as far as i know in a red sunfire now(intrepid is at school with the gf)

long enough post so im done..

Is the exhaust shop going to help you out. At least pay for part to replace it? I know the car is low, but it is obviously low and its their job to notice this and take precautions. I would insist on new painted and intalled. Are they going to help you out?

Hey everybody. Joe said I should stop by and say hey!

Thanks for the kind words by the way!

well,

heres the thing...the owner of the shop is a really close friend of the family....he freaked on the guy that crunched the skirt...but he does realize things happen...

so he is an awesome guy to deal with when doing fibreglass so he offered to try and fix it and if he cant hell get me a brand new one..(if i get one from fx designs for free i wont need to, this is where my sponsorship comes in) and then barter something out with him...he does have a few rust buckets around his property..and i am in need of a winter beater

Cool glad to hear that. I wish you luck with it. Hard thing in most shops is proving they messed the item up to begin with. I had an engine fire due to some mechanic putting 2 small o-rings in instead of the proper one in the fuel rail. Course it lasted for a year before it leaked, so I could not do anything about it. Thats why Joe and I do what we can ourselves now!
