To sell or not to sell?
I have just recently found a 1990 GTA fully loaded w/350 TPI. I missed out on one just before I bought the car I own now. I have put alot of money and time into my car. I know it still needs work, but it drives and handles well. I am still waiting for the seller to email with me with more info on the car. The car is burgundy w/t-tops. I don't know what the overall condition is,although the pic of it seems to show that it's in decent shape, and they are asking $2999.00. It's at a dealer. I would hope I could sell mine to pay for the GTA. If I could get around $5k for mine, I would be happy, then I could buy the car outright and still have some left over for some mods or any repairs that might be needed. I hate decisions like this. Atleast I know what needs to be done to my car, whereas I could be buying a can of worms if I get the GTA. I will wait to see what the dealer says, I guess.

I am still waiting to hear back from the dealership. I'll call them and see if I can get any info.

Anyone can buy horsepower, you've built your car up and will continue to do so.
Plus, black is way cooler than cayenne
Good luck with your decisiion, never hurts to look.

thats a tough one, being a 90 it has some refinements over yours, plus it has the 5.7 and its SD(wich may or may not be good) and it is a GTA(sweet). However the list of things that don't have to be replaced might be shorter than the list of things that have to be replaced. That price does seem quite low for a 90. I guess the only thing to do is check it out.Word to the wise take an ohm meter and check those MULTECS. It probably will have an intake gasket leak. It does look nice from the angle the photo was taken from

Look it over, assess the car, test drive, sleep on it than BUY! Kev that car has alot more ponies than yours even with your mods now. But again that car is selling for too cheap. They were going for $7000 in good condition and 200 000 plus kms. Like I said, go over the car thoroughly and sleep on it. Oh ya, one more thing.....don't trade unless he goes for a straight up. Your car is easily worth $5000.
I wouldn't. Get something with lower miles and from an owner - not a dealer. GTA Lemons can be very costly - trust me from experience!
There was a guy on Autotrader.ca selling a gunmetal GTA in absolutely mint condition. He's from Aurora.

Here's the low down on her...
Not a 350, 305 TPI.
VIN says so.
It's american, from illinois or something.
It has 100000 MILES ON IT. Despite that engine runs strong.
Interior is torn and ripped, unsalvagable, old leather.
Paint is old. Seen one too many sunny days. Lots of fading.
Carpet is filthy.
Drivers side window not raising well on its own.
Hood latch release is broken (although he's gonna fix it sometime soon.)
Doesn't burn oil, no exhaust smells.
Year old cat, intermediate pipe, flowmaster 80 and tips. 2 1/2 Inch
Rims are in "immaculate" condition. Damn nice polish job on them, not mirror, but enough to see a good reflection of the honeycomb.
Yokohama Tires, looks like summer only, lots of tread.
Multec injectors.
Passes emissions.
Does a wet burn out ok.
No odd sounds coming from engine, purrs nicely and exhaust sounds throaty like a flowmaster should.
Engine bay has been to the detail treatment, a/c looks like trigger's ac nice and polished (working is another matter).
Underside is clean, paint looks smooth, not winter driven. (panhard rod has "normal air corrosion", not salt) I looked at panhard rod, springs, axle... floor pans are smooth.
It creaks and groans though.

Hey Brad, there is 162,000Km on my car, so it would be the same as the 1990.
Slade, thanks for going to look at it. I would like to check it out for myself, however it sounds like this car would be alot of cosmetic work. I will have to see if I can zip up there on the weekend...I am disappointed that it is a 305. Did the guy verify that it was or could it have been swapped?
Engine specs for the 1990 GTA
LB9/A4_(v8)5.0L / 305 C.I. 9.3:1 HP=210@4400RPM TQ=285@3200

There's no documentation to say that it was a 350... you'd have to look at the casting number on the back of the block to be sure.
I saw all the receipts for it since it got to Canada and nothing in there mentioning 350...

So, what you are saying is.... when you bought your Camaro, the salesman told you it was an LT1, and you believed him?

Fair enough... but there's always a bigger fish in the sea right?
If I had the money, i'd have bought a Vette c5... i'd be a heck of a lot faster than i am now(thus the buying HP remark), but if you think about it, there'd still be people out there faster, albeit fewer so am I really getting anywhere besides down the track faster?
My statement was an emotional arguement. What would be more satisfying... Buy a car faster than yours and jump a second in the 1/4 mile instantly, or take that car YOU've (in Kevin's case) sweated blood on over the years and make it go 1 second faster by tinkering and tuning?
For me, the latter would be far more satisfying. That's my argument and i'm sticking to it
Buying parts to produce HP is similar to buying a faster car, but I draw a distinction, particularly for those that do their own work and tuning. I consider building a car more noble than buying.... and as soon as I know how to build a car, i'll be set

I also agree that the car you ahve now is your car. Meaning you busted you butt to get it in the condition it is in now. I personally think there are better GTA's around.
But's its your blood (and money).
Please keep us posted!!

Well I am pretty certain that I will keep my car, for now. If a deal was to fall into my lap, such as a Canadian 1990 GTA w/ 350 TPI, I will not hesitate. As for the GTA that is for sale now, if one of you guys pick it up, I hope all is well with it. I just can't warrant replacing leather interiors and a paint job, as well as any other little thing that comes up. My car needs a rear axle( see the classifieds) and I have some rust coming through in a couple of spots, other than that, it is a pretty solid car.

Kevin...I say dont do it man......dont sell your car! Its real easy to throw in the towel and say you are going to flip it and get something a little "better", hey man I almost did it with mine before I got it painted!
Not that I am saying mine is any show quality paint job, but looking at what it was vs. what it is now only helps to reaffirm that in due time you will have it where you want it!
Stick with it man and it will 1000x better than that GTA, and you will apreciate it a million times more!

hey Blanchard, ever work 70 hours aweek. on night shift as well? not much time to sleep for s h i t sakes.
so theresd no time for that. you want 500$ for them, with out tires. i might just go buy zr1 rims for235$ a piece instead. 500$ for what, 13 year old rims. cha right.

Those GTA rims, regradless of age, have and always will be in high demand by f-body owners. $500 for mint condition gold GTA rims are a steal! Daz or anyone else will have no problem selling them. I consider them an investment since they'll never loose there value. I hear you on the hours, but if you want the GTA's, buy them in any colour and just wait for the right time to get them painted. I myself push over the 70hours mark between the day job, part-time job and school.
