My life is just getting pretty annoying now.
I forgot my phone in the car, and at around 2:30 pm Thursday my gf calls. I'm out after 3 pm and check messages and return her call at around 3:30 pm...
Here is the message summed up...
You've got 30 mins to call me back because I can get my hands on Super Bowl tickets ALL INCLUSIVE... but you gotta call me back in 30 mins!!!

I never do a "flush" with any of my oil changes on any of my cars....what are the benefits to doing it...or is it jsut another money grab?
I've always done one.. gets rid of deposits, breaks down the detergents that have broken down and clumped together/sludged I was just wondering how many of you do it...
I've always thought of it as good practice...

Don't worry about missing the Super Bowl. At the live game, you don't get to see the comercials!!
Sorry, I know that was lame.
But seriously, if your biggest problem is missing Super Bowl tickets, than maybe your life is a little better than you thought.

Super Bowl Tickets!!! I would kill for Superbowl tickets, especially all inclusive. Yeah that sucks big time. Sorry about your luck man.
Oh yeah, no I don't flush when I change my oil, you should know that, I only do it when the car revs at about 5000 RPM.

Kev, when your car decides it wants a flush it makes sure everyone around it gets one too...

flushing out the engine is a bad idea, especially with older cars with high kms. That stuff is designed to break down the deposits all right. I watched a 96 Bonneville with about 180K on it come into our shop on the hook after an oil change and a flush. Without dissassembling the side of the engine we made a pretty good educated guess about what had happened - That stuff broke down all of the accumlated crap and sent a chunk of it through the engine lodging itself quite nicely inside. You couldn't run the car for more than about 10 minutes before the oil filter would blow off because it built up that much pressure. The woman was going to sue the place where she had the oil change done and she had it towed to the dealership. Other than that I've heard lots of horror stories about that stuff but it might be different on a car that was very well maintained?
Well my engine doesn't have large amounts of sludge thank ***! Yeah, when I had it apart the heads and intake looked pretty decent. The only part I'm worried about are my valve seals since I never sent it out to be redone nor redone them myself so technically the seals should be beat as hell and the sludge is what is keeping them sealed lol.
The irony continues... remember that sore throat? Well yesterday I had 9 hrs straight of teaching classes... with 2 new classes starting yesterday... ( had a student come in to catch up on his work)...
I was in agony but for some reason I managed to keep my temperment and not explode on anyone... although I got this weird twitching in my right eye...must be from being in constant pain for the last 24 hours or something...
Update: weird twitching in eye = EYE INFECTION ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Never ask "Can it get worse than this?" when you have had a string of bad luck...

I've had the engine flush done on 2 cars in the past, as well as a friend of mine, and this is why I know I would never do it again...everytime the cars came out smoking from the tailpipe worst than when they had went in. To have a car go in with barely any visable emmissions and come out smokin like a Stelco factory makes it not worth it. At least on older engines. The buildup over time seals up some spots that might not necessarily need to be unbuilt-up. Just change the oil on a regular basis and you'll be fine.
