WOSCA AutoX this weekend(Oct 26th)
Anyone interested in joining me this weekend? $25, day starts at 10am and usually ends around 5-6(you get 5 timed runs for the day plus fun laps afterwards). At least 35 cars and upwards of 50 sometimes. You dont really need anything to come out. Only mandatory thing that isn't already bolted onto our cars is a helmet which they carry extra of or you can borrow off me.
More info here
Here's a little video of the actual event to give you an idea of how much fun it can be.

I was going to go to that one but I'm doing one at Mosport this weekend instead. Autox is a blast though, I did one a couple of weeks ago. Suspension work helped a lot.

Mosport eh... with what club or what's the event? I'll be looking for some road course time next year. We'll have to hook up!

Oshawa Motorsports Club - omsc.ca
This is a lap day / hill climb. It's a year end sort of deal - not listed on their site.
They have solo 1 and 2 events throughout the year mostly at Mosport and Shannonville I think. I'm not a member but it looks like a good club - been around for a long time and has CASC affiliation.

The car looks good - seems to have a nice stance in the corners.
So how did it go.
Mosport was good - there was no waiting to get on the track and you could stay out as long as you wanted - I found that the motor got too hot after about 10-15 laps. The car still smells like burn't brakes.
Started to dry out in the afternoon and could really hammer it then - driving in the rain was a laugh though.
I think the best thing to when it's raining is to go to the track anyway because it's all a blast and you never if it's going to dry out or not.

The day went great. WOSCA guys are good and ran everything super smoothly. Fastest cars out there were the imprezas and a CRX. These cars are pretty much perfect for autox and are always gonna be at the top(Especially on a wet track day such as this one).

I assume you're using a stock rad with the overheating problem?

Lookin good Justin! How did the car handle... I know it's hard to tell in the rain... but compared to the other guys...
Anyway, here's a couple videos of my buddy Mike(guy you met with me Jay) driving around two parts of the course. He was supposed to be taking shots of me but kept screwing it up! They're just 15 second shots as it was just a Digi cam. In the first video you'll see at the end of the straight(last turn) the first corner that gave us probs. Then in the second video you'll see the slalom and the final turn which was the other one causing other issues.
Start of course

Looks like a pretty tight course... I think it was better when they did it at delaware. But either way, you can't really get the idea driving in the rain... you gotta make it out when it's dry.
I know what your saying about the pushing.... when I had my car that low it pushed like crazy...
cool vids!

Lol.. re the video - sort of brings it all back.
Your car sounds nice - do you have headers or is it just the catback.
I don't have any pictures. Yeah - stock rad = o/heating.
My car pushes badly in the rain but I saw from your ackerman post that maybe you're thinking it's something else.

I've been talking with some guys over in the suspension forum in the "Ackerman Problem?" thread about the push and steering etc... Got some ideas about how to tune that which make sense to me. Really I havn't done any tuning to my car other than some alignment tweaking since I put all these parts on. I'm in no way complaining about the handling, but you can tell(even in the rain) that it's capable of much more.
Was it you telling me they're gonna bring the autox back to Delaware next year??? Maybe it was one of the WOSCA guys. Hmm.. anyway hopefully they will. Then you and I can hopefully put some import guys in their proper place. I'm not even the slightest bit worried about mustang guys ;p

As for your rad... Do you have A/C? or have you taken it out but left the condenser in?

I've never heard mine from outside either. Still have all the AC stuff in there - probably remove it when I get another motor - I will have to get a better rad then anyway.
It's generally been running hotter since I installed the shroud and fan from an 84 Camaro back in August - shroud for the TA was deeper and the the fan was slightly different.

Track
Here's a picture of the driver development track used for lap days and autocross at Mosport and so on. As you can see it's quite long. It's also got elevation changes - from about the mid point of the back straight it's downhill - pretty good track actually.
I thought I'd post this because it's going to be a long winter.. lol.

Damn that looks like too much fun. I've actually driven the GP Mosport track in a 67 Lotus GP car, a 2002 Winston Cup car and I think even a 97 GSXR 750... of course this was all on my computer but it's an awesome facility. For sure I'm comin out with ya some time next summer george.
