Goodbye Ottodrome

Well I've been told Ottodrome is no more. Oh well, good ridence to bad rubish, Dave is a stupid idiot anyway, it was only a matter of time. Surprised it went as long as it did.
So..... who's going to Shannonville Aug 12?

Have they raced the oval at all this year?
I haven't heard the cars from my place, and I usually can.
I did see a few hobby stocks getting gas last week at the Sunoco in Kanata...

Don't think I can make Shannonville on the 12th this time around.
Anyone go to Luskville on Saturdays anymore?

When my car is done, sometime near end of July, I'll be hitting Luskville.

Let me ask you Ottawa guys:

Are there any bridges over the river into QC west of Ottawa- say between Arnprior and Kanata?

Probably somewhere. Or at least there would be a ferry.

There's a ferry from Fitzroy Harbour area to Qyon.
It's about 8 or $10 each way.

The Quyon ferry is $6.50 or $6.75 per crossing ( I use it all the time). There is also the Chenaux dam further West, which is free. Both get you onto the 148 which is a pretty decent 2 lane highway, at Luskville for some reason it opens up to 4 lanes for a while.

WTF is the Ottodrome?

I keep thinking it's some big stadium with a large otter staring into it with an even bigger Big Joe Mufferlaw staring over top of the otter.

That's really what you see in your mind's eye when you see the word "Ottodrome"? That's ****ed up lol.

It's a local circle track facility. It also has a half assed 1/8 mile drag strip. The owner is a first class douche bag. He has managed to burn every bridge that he has ever crossed and will likely be bagging groceries in the near future.

Oh, and it used to be called Capital City Speedway.

Scott, doesn't/didn't Ken race there?

Yeah, but like all the racers that raced there over the years, Ken found it a headache, more hassles than what it was worth. Everyone who used to go there for fun, found themselves angry and stressed. Not good. Too bad Dave was too arrogant to see anything but his ego.
Perhaps Ken can add to this....Scream'in Chicken...?

I called last night, they still have the 3/8 oval running.
The dragstrip is closed as no racers showed up this year....suprise.

This place used to be a dirt figure 8 back in the 50's.

No need to get me started!!!

Yeah the circle track is still running, they just closed down the cruise/drag events. I drove a LLM for a friend last month and the following week the class was postponed because not enough cars will come out. There were actually less than 100 people in the stands.

The owner perceives that racing is dead in ottawa and solely the fault of the owners/drivers (who refuse to show up) as well as the fans that don't show up. Just five years ago we ran 12-20 cars in every division in front of 2-3000 fans weekly, and for more money. The first season we ran street stock, we sold 200+ t-shirts for our team alone.

We have local racers running regularly in Peterborough, Kawartha, Mosport, St. Eustache, Brockville (dirt) and as many cars parked yet it is "our fault" for not supporting our local track.

I told you, don't wind me up! The car is race ready, I just need some play time.

Sooooo... not much thirdgen here... well once I get my oil leak solved and carb set up I'm looking forward to putting the car down the track, hopefully for the next Shannonville date. It's a lot more fun to drive around town with the new converter and cam, I just want to see some numbers to know if the effort was worthwhile.
