Newbie - Looking for Assistance

Hi, names Dominic. I own a red IROC. Please no italian jokes......

This is going back a bit but I was wonderig if anyone knows a guy with a Blue Camaro who used to be into the car audio and car show scene about 8 to 10 years ago? I know it might be a long shot.

One of the last pictures I have of my son is him in that car at a show. The owner was a REALLY nice guy who would let people sit inside, touch the car (even at shows), took time out to talk to people and was very approachable and was always willing to help others (even competitors).

The car was in just about every car show in Ontario, MI, OH and IL and was a Canadian IASCA champion. The car went down to compete in the IASCA world finals I believe in 96 or 97.

I am trying to locate the owner. The car had a supercharged motor with NOS, custom blue paint, custom interior, recaro seats, big brakes and tires and LOTS of high end stereo equipment (Soundstream, Audio Control, MB quart)......any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to find out if the car exists and if he would like to aprt with it.

Sorry- can't help you with locating this person/car- but I do remember the car itself from around '96-97 at a couple of shows. Not exactly crystal-clear in my head- but I believe it was a later thirdgen- i.e. '87-up.

Hey Dominic.....welcome to the board.

Which blue Camaro do you refer? I only ask as there were two competing in a lot of IASCA events from 95 to 97 and quite a lot of car shows as well. One was a factory medium blue colour and the other was a slightly darker colour?

FYI.....there is no IASCA Canadian champion award only a points leader.

Didn't know there were two car. Not sure then...........think it might be the darker one but that could be the lighting. I know the audio in the car was done by a guy named Iggy. FOr some reason this name stuck in my head. The audio was all top notch as you can imagine.

I mean this thing was just unreal to see and hear.

Well.............BOTH cars were done by Perfect Audio in Pickering. The shop was owned by Iggy. The darker car was build first over a period of 2 years. The owner of the lighter blue car saw the other car and decided to copy it. The following year he made a few changes after people kept commenting on the car being a copy. The light blue car kept competing and showing up to about 99 or so. I remember it at a car show in London and an audio event in 99.

This may help. Which interior is the car. The darker car is black and the lighter car is gray.

The car is sitting in my garage. I will be putting her back on the road after 6 years of storage. It is no where near show condition. Most of the show photo's I had are gone as well.

As for the grey interior car if you ever saw it............last I heard the car was written off in a bad accident after the owner sold all the parts out of it.

What happened to the car? I do remember the other car and have some shots of the stereo setup. Your sig says 305 TPI that was not the engine in the car before. Man, that car was beautiful....I remember seeing it on that TV show with Dennis Gage. It was in MI if I remember when he was filming the show and was ALL over your car. Did you guys end up going for that drive he was asking for? Let me know.

Well.....I sold the car back in 2000 for $ 39,000 for a deposit on my house. The guy I sold it to bought it as a gift for his son (19). Well the kid had it a few months and it got stolen (no surprise). The car was stripped and gutted. Motor (500+hp), rear end, wheels, brakes (baer), hood (SS), interior, seats (corbeau), stereo ($ 20,000), tranny all gone!

I went down to confirm to the insurance company and police that the car was mine and had what the owner claimed it had. Anyway the insurance guy gives to owner a cheque for the car. I bought the car back from the insurance company for $100 as they were going to scrap the car.

I put enought parts on the car to get it running and drove it back home where it sat in my garage for the past 6 years. This year I am putting a new motor, tranny and wheels on it and start to drive it again. It has a few scratches and dings but I just want to have it on the road. It is nowhere near the condition you remember it.

If you have some pics of the car I would be interested in a copy. I only have one exterior shot of the car and it is an old one.

Send me an email

Bill. Sorry to hear about the car. As a police officer certain cars tend to stick in my head for obvious reasons. I really liked the way you did the car. More importantly I liked the way you talked to parents and kids at shows and events. You were truly a gentleman and patient. I remember when my son broke a **** when he sat inside your car and all you said was "keep it as a souvenir".

I heard you were used to race the imports up in Markham and take the kids money. You had a reputaion for being pretty sneaky. I almost arrested one guy after he complained you took his money in a street race!

Is there anything left of the old car? What colour was it. I have never seen another car the same colour? Did you ever go for that drive with Dennis Gage at the car show in MI?

Dom,

Street racing is illegal...hence I would never admit to it. That being said they guy must have been a sore loser. There is nothing left of the car. The thieves took car of that. The car was completely gutted. This is not an exageration. I had to replace almost every interior panel. I was lucky enough to find some new panels from GM!

The colour was mixed by a friend who was drinking one night. I have some paint left but did not write down the formula.

The car was in the closing credits of "My classic car". Dennis saw the car and talked with me for a while but we did not take it out for a spin. His timetable was too tight. I don't think he was a fan of car audio but loved the look of the car.

I will send you an email and get some of the photo's you have. I don't have any digital shots to post and don't have a scanner to scan the ones I have.

I hung around Milly's Donuts and Tim's in Markham a few years back when the street racing situation was booming, and no, I don't recall seeing a "showcar" looking 3rd gen in that colour, let alone one that was street racing.

I was up at Milly's a fair bit as well as Brampton, the bottom of Scarborough (west hill) and stoffville. We are talking around 1997/98/99. Sometimes I would race sometimes just go and hang out. It was a blue 'maro with weld rims. Quiet car due to having two mufflers.

That really is a shame to hear about your car. Hopefully you can get it back on the road and just enjoy driving her since you have had it so long.

Hearing about racing in west hill brings back a few memories. I take it you are refering to the industrial areas. I would get reports from time to time from residents about cars racing and tires chirping.

Give me a shout and we can get together.

Dang... Millys. That takes me back a few years. Finch and Weston even further...

I'd like to see some pics of this car too so post one up if you can. Neat story my car is also a theft recovery. Cant recall the name of the audio shop it was built for but there was soooooo much audio in it they wrote the car off because of it. One punched in passenger side door lock and no wheels but one heck of a solid body. This was in 96 I believe.
