This thread may help you. I have SD so it wasn't a problem for me.

Convert to speed density or a later MAF setup that didnt use the cold start (89 i think). Or you could just leave it out if you dont drive it when its real cold out.

Yes, convert your prom to 1989 programming. You will have to get a custom prom anyway to take advantage of the HSR anyway.

John,
Convert to 89 Prom? Do you mean change the tables so the comp squirts fuel at startup like the SD? If so, do i just remove the 9th injector altogether. Thanks..

That's pretty much the idea. The 89 is the exact same MAF system that you already have, except they smartened up and removed the CSI and just richened the tables at startup.

I ran all last summer without my ColdStart, it just takes a few more cranks to get it started, no biggy!

I ran for years w/o the CSI on my 87 before I knew anything about PROM changes.... so it wont hurt to run w/o it...

so if Im converting my car to the LT1 Intake, done by the guy at LT1intake.com,the LT1 is just like the HSR in both not having a 9th injector. John is going to burn me a new prom to take advantage of the new intake and no EGR, will he have to do an '89 prom

and wil I just remove the injector and then tuck the wire for the injector somewhere not connected?
