Anybody using the holley throttle body?

I managed to break one of the bolts off in the hole of my throttle body when trying to remove the piece that the IAC is attached to from the bottom of the throttle body. I've been looking for an excuse to get a new one, and this seems as good as any. I've heard that the BBK is cheap, plus the rough cast finish doesn't match my polished setup, and because of its shape, polishing would be cumbersome to say the least. The holley TB comes fully polished and looks like a quality piece. So... anybody have any experiences with them? I'd be looking at the 52mm TB.

Haven't used 'em but Holley makes pretty good products in general. They also make one with built in nitrous ports, under the NOS brand name, so if your thinking about adding nitrous in the future, you might want to look at it as well.

I have one, bought for the same reason as you. My bleed air screw broke on mine. Oustanding polish job on it and the machine work is first rate. I cleaned up the IAC housing before I put it on, and had to grind the end of the TPS arm for clearance when I put it on.

I do not know about the 52mm TB of Holley, but the 58mm I got from Holley was a total POS! It did not have a a possitive stop for WOT (it would rotate to 120deg!). It did not have enough clearance for the TPS to rotate (about 30 minutes with a file solved this problem). It did not come with the right bolts (wrong thread pitch for the plenum and the stockers are not long enough, so off to the hardware store I went). The throtle cable connection is mounted higher and farther forward. This is not a problem with a standard TPI set-up, but with the TPIS mini-ram it makes the off idle step-in very jerky. The spring tension on the throtle body is way too stiff (it is adjustable with three different holes, but I had to add a forth hole to get the throtle pressure where I want it). I hope you have better results with your TB.

thanx

I have one slightly used for sale. I've replaced it with a Commander 950 that's why I'm selling it. My 305 didn't like telling the Holley what to do. I can't remember if it was a 58 or a 52.

BBK

See my post below about problems with my ZZ4. The BBK inlet is cast and this area looks like it was made by Fed Flintstone.
