Using gasket paper/cork for the runners

Stock runner gaskets are puny for my runners and intake and porting them makes them really fragile..Can I just get a gasket sheet(paper or cork) and make it..Would this work?Im wondering cause stock gaskets have metal in them...BTW It takes 3 weeks for any aftermarkets to get here..I dunno if it makes a difference but I blocked the EGR ports from the heads(using Felpro 1206)so the intake should be cooler(?)

If your custom "cork" gasket cutting skills are anything close to your skills in making your custom signature, Id steer real clear from making those gaskets!!!!!

I got my SLP siamesed runners used, and didn't have any gaskets for them, so I made them out of the blue paper gasket material that you buy in sheets. Apparently it sealed ok, as I don't appear to have any vacuum leaks. Making the gaskets was a real PITA though, it took me at least an hour. You could always order aftermarket gaskets. I know SLP sells them separately, and Accel and Edelbrock might also. But price-wise, it'cheapest to cut your own.

Buy TPiS large mouth gaskets, they'll fit your porting and you dont have to worry about sealing, then you'll have bragging rights that you spent ungodly amounts of money on TPiS parts

Mr. Gasket sells large mouth gaskets, probably for 1/2 what TPIS charges. They have a 1.75" diameter, so they're a good match for the accel runners as well as the SLP runners with a snip of the scissors. Summit usually stocks them too.
