I would suggest some along the lines of an engine rebuild using a LT4 hot cam, 1.6 rockers and LT4 springs, Vortec heads, and something like a Superram or Miniram. This is just somethings I would like to do, but unfortunately I don't have any friends with that kinda money right now. Good luck though.

What do you want to do with this car? Drag, autocross, roadrace? There's some things that will help all of these (heads, cam, exhaust), but for suspension upgrades you'll need to make some compromises.

Since you're not doing the labor, I'll assume you're not burning your own chips, making any kind of custom cold-air intake, or porting anything. Based on that and the money...here's what I'd do.

1)Take the stock heads and get them heavily ported (there's 2 posts around here about a guy who did amazing things with stock heads for less than new aftermarket)

2)Get a junkyard base & a set of SLP or ASM runners (I forget which have larger bores)....get the base siamesed about 3 inches in and then siamese your runners. Gasket match these runners to the plenum and siames it. Then fully port that plenum out.

3)Get the LT4 Hotcam and the 1.6 roller rockers.

4)Pick up a set of Hooker Longtube Headers, a CATCO hi-flo cat, and a Hooker Cat-back.

5)Pay someone to cut out the areas under your filters

6)Maybe toss in a 383 stroker kit from Eagle

7)Do all those suspension upgrades you think you'll need

8)Full MSD ignition with cap/rotor/wires

9)Set of AC Delco plugs

10)Take your car to Ed Wright at www.Fastchips.com and have him tune it for you on the dyno. This'll set you back $800 but is well worth it. (You'll need it with all these mods!)

11)pay somebody to polish your plenum and runners

WITH ALL OF THESE MODS YOU MUST START WITH:
A good set of Sub-frame connectors. These are a must-have item.

You'll probably out of money by now. But have fun with that torque monster.
