Throttle body bypass collant! Does it work
Throttle body bypass collant! Does it work
I just bought a throttle body bypass off e- bay and they claim it will gain 6 hp. Is this true??? And can it hurt the throttle body not having the collant going to it???? Should i put it on or no. Let me know what you think
As i have learned earlier, u should not do it if you live in a cold climate, cause the coolant keeps the throttle body from freezing in such cold temps...
but if ur in warmer temps, or only drive in warm weather, then it will keep the throttle body much cooler, and let the air flowing in be a little cooler giving u some more power, but i dont think it will be anything to put u in ur seat, but its def a mod worth goin for...
learn alot on these boards...:lala:

I have never had trouble with having the coolant bypassed on my car, even with the michigan winters.
I do not know if you will gain any power, but it makes it so easy to get the TB off. That alone makes it worth it.

I bought a $8 90 degree hose from the parts store and bypassed mine. I did not feel a difference on the butt dyno, but I did notice in the hot summer sun when the engine temp is up the car stays responsive and dosn't get soggy. The problem with the onse on e-bay is they run so many quctions it takes forever to get to the real parts.

Why don't you just buy a longer heater hose and connect it to the intake instead? You have to dumpt the coolant either way so just eliminate a point for it to leak and use one longer hose. So what if it doesn't have a nice 90* bend, it looks like alot nicer too.
Yeah some guy posts like 20 auctions of these a day. I think you'd be a fool to buy one. That's beside the point though. Just put it on, you don't need coolant in there. I actually ground the nippes off of my throttle body.
