anyone have a list of hoses/lines for TPI swap?

Hello all, i'm getting ready to finally undertake the TPI swap project. I dont have a donor car, so unfortunately i dont have all of the vaccuum hoses, radiator hoses and all that good stuff. My question is do any of you guys that have done the swap have a list, or know where i can find one of what is needed? I have all the other stuff for the swap. This is all that is holding me back. I don't want to be running to pep boys every 10 minutes when i find something i need. any help would be appreciated. Thanx

I cant list every hose I needed, how long or any of that....but I had to get.....

-Hearter hose to run from the hearter control valve to the intake manifold (to bypass the TB)
-hose to run from cruise control diaphram to back of plenum
-hose to run from HVAC to back of plenum (for AC)
-upper radiator hose
-hose for brake booster
-hose for PCV valve

that's all i can think of. I also had to get a 2 hose adaptor to run the HVAC hose and cruise hose to the back of the plenum (they run to the same port).

Good luck. lemme know if you need any help during the swap

Hi,

I'm just finishing up on my conversion and I have two questions basically relating to this:

1) Where exactly does the cruise control hose hook up to at the back of the plenum.

2) I am currently using my old 305 TBI cc diaphram, is this o.k., and where exactly do you mount it?!

Thanks in advance.

1. Theres a little port sticking out on the rear passenger side...right before the distributor. It fits a pretty good size hose. There's supposed to be 3 hoses running to that, but I just did 2 (HVAC, Cruise) i'm not sure what the 3rd is supposed to be....but whatever it is I dont have it.

2. I also used my TBI diaphram...left it where it was...right next to the EVAP cansiter. I had to buy a TPI cruise cable (TBI cable was too long) but now it works like a charm.

If you need anymore help lemme know

O.k. I know where it plugs into now. I'll have to look at it tomorrow to be absolute sure, but I think you've solved that for me. Thanks heartily.

Concerning the TBI diaphram, thanks for assuring me that I can use it...but that leads to another question. Being that I have a Formula the air filter cannister and charcoal cannister are now located where the battery once was, while the battery is now located on the driver's side. Where, now, would I mount the cc diaphram? I know the general area that it was mounted on TPI cars, but how exact must I be or is there another answer?

Thank you for your help, the engine runs like a charm...just want my cruise control back.

Rip out the damn charcoal canister! Thats what i did. Since i have an LO3 car, the battery was on the passengers side and charcoal canister was on the driver's side. I ripped out the canister to make room for the battery since i have all of my smog stuff removed anyway . As for the CC diaphragm, i put it right between the batter's new position and the radiator. Works nicely and its out of the way too.

yea, if you dont have a good open spot to put the diaphram, then just get rid of the evap canister....you dont need it. And it wont throw a code if you do get rid of it.

Nasty_Bird_'90, first I apologize for "hi-jacking" your thread here. Second, is it possible you could post a pic of your mounted diaphram? My charcoal canister is not in the way, as it is now sitting on the passenger side along with the air filter cannister. The battery is in the way, so I'd like to see how you did it. I'm sure I can move the battery a little more over if need be.

Also, for everyone else can anyone name me this part (in the picture that I am missing? Does anyone have an extra for sale?

Thanks for all of your help everyone!

that's the retainer for your T.V.,Acellerator and CC cables.it'll have three opening for the cables.i put it on but the one i had wasn't strong enough to hold the cables down so i took it off.
you don't need it.

don't worry about the Hi Jacking of the thread. everyone's got to learn this stuff somehow, right? well, my car isn't a real t/a, so the diaphragm was mounted next to the charcoal caniser between it and the radiator. on real t/a's, its mounted on the fender-well bulge, next to the washer tank. I put my battery where the charcoal canister was. Since the battery AND the CC diaphragm aren't both meant to be there, i had to unbolt the CC and move it towards the firewall about an inch or so. This gave me clearance to mount the battery. When i tightened the battery hold down, it sandwiched the CC diaphragm between the battery and the battery tray. So technically, its in the stock location. Just moved forward an inch or two. I'll try to get pics. hope this helps.
