intake manifold

Ok I just finished doing some work on my stock base and I am getting ready to install everything. I am a little confused about the underside of my manifold base, however. There seem to be a few holes underneath the manifold on the coolent tank. Are these holes supposed to be pluged? If they are not....how does the coolent keep from draining into the distributor hole?

Coolant tank? What? That sheet metal thing is a heat shield. The distributor hole does not connect directly to the lifter valley, either.

#1 - It's not a coolant tank, as the first guy said, it's a heat shield. And i wouldn't plug the holes, they let it drain. Otherwise, oil would seep in at the junction at the top and then fill it up.

#2 - What do you mean you worked on the base. Looks like you cleaned it really good. Now why not try porting it a bit?

Well, after all was put back together I noticed that the car pulls harder in 2nd and 3rd gear. The RPM range increased also. It pulls well all the way to 6000. I also put on a set of SLP runners.

Very effective mod for the price.

Do you have any before/after track times, or dyno runs?
