NEED Head Gasket answer ASAP!!!!! PLEASE

Ok, I got a head gasket for the '92 replacement Shortblock that I got. Problem is that the block has big water passage holes between the cylinders kinda, but all the gasket has there is like a little pin hole.

Does anyone know the part number for a head gasket that will fit a '92 L98.

any reason why the other one has pin holes instead of passages, the ones listed have the open passage?

some of the SBC have the little holes to restrict the coolant in certain areas of the motor. I can't remember exactly cause its been a while.

If I recall, on all the head gaskets I've used, the holes on the gasket are alot smaller than the holes in the block. Not too small though, not pin holes, maybe 1/2 inch? They arent going to match perfect, the heads have traingular holes also.

these were slightly larger then pin holes, they were big enought for the tip of a pen to go through, maybe 2 or 3 millimeters.

Can't say I've seen that, I'd deffinately check before I used it. Every standard SBC head gasket I've seen is like mine when it comes to coolant holes.
I wonder why yours is like that.

Could be a factory fudge up. I got a oil pan gasket last weekend that had no bolt holes or taps to fit under rear seal, I took it back and the replaced it with no problem.

You are fine.......

Those big holes in the top of the deck near the oil gallery is how it is suppose to be, but you dont need that much coolant flowing up through the gasket that is why the hole in the gasket is small.

Plugging up those big holes in the deck and restricting them is actually a good modification when doing a engine overhaul. You tap those holes and plug them, then drill them smaller to fit the gasket

here is an example of the big holes plugged and restricted dentoed by the blue arrows:

Satisfied?

I think he's talking smaller than that. Pinholes, is that still OK? Doesn't seem right, my head gasket weren't like that. Havn't seen any like that, even the "factory" 305 ones that I pulled off it.
