Check out this deal I got......inside...
The salvage yard in my area is having a sale this month, and in their ad online, it says ANY engine $100, so I had them reserve me a 95 LT1 and a 2001 LS1....Tell me thats not a deal, $200 bucks for two killer engines!!! My 383 might have to wait..hehe. What would you guys do?? Sell the motors and use it for my 383, or put one of the others in? Id love to put the LS1 in, but I bet its a pain........
I bet they were pi**ed that they sold you those engines for $100 each, did you get any of the computer stuff with the deal? Excellent find. I have heard of LT1 swaps but not any LS1 swaps, I believe the LS1 is a difficult swap.

Regardless of the condition of the engines, thats quite a deal! Hell, if you invest in a rebuild for the LT1 you got yourself a real firebreather... the LS1 I would clean up and sell, try to make 200-250 dollars profit to invest into the LT1.

Yeah I got the ECM, but no wiring harnesses yet, Im negotiating on those, if not, they want a whole $25 for those...
Im thinking on maybe slamming the LS1 into the empty engine bay. Other than new motor mounts and some serious re-wiring, it really shouldnt be too difficult. I may sell my 383 and the LT1 to pay for a good cam(B1 or thunder) for the LS1 and a good exhaust port job(d-shaped). IT would be a monster then, especially if my T56 would bolt up, which I doubt.....I think the new LS1's need a diff. bellhousing or something....OH well, decisions, decisions............I wont be able to sleep at ALL tonite...hehe

I'm having a hard time believing they'd let those engines go for that little. Is it only in person or through the website too? Just asking cause I checked the site and it doesn't appear to support specials. Oh yeah, and transmissions too? I could use a T56.

Its only in person......., actually I think they have new owners cause the last place just had cars sitting EVERYwhere, so they are in the process of cleaning up the place.....They'll make up the difference after this sale....believe me...
I bet they will. Even though I don't have much cash right now, I'm tempted to drive up there this weekend to see what I can find.
Hmmm. Didn't realize they were that far away. I saw that you were in Kentucky so thought that wasn't too far. This place is on the other side of kentucky though. That sucks for me.

I called them and they said they don't have anything like an LS1 or LT1. What's the deal? Then I asked if he had any 350TPI engines and he said he had a 305 that was already pulled and that he'd give it to me for $300.
Got any more info about this place or what the deal really is?

The LS1 swap isn't too tough, but there are stumbling blocks. Like the cross member & exhaust. My brother did it sucessfully in his 87 IROC and it screams. The LT1 T56 won't work with the LS1, but you couild sell it to me.
Any way, you need to notch the crossmember to clear the a/c compressor on the f-body LS1. I can help you out with all the info if you need it, (my brother even said a while back that he'd be interested in doing the mods to your x-member for a fee) I can even get pics of my brother's car for you. They sometimes take a little while (due to snow, his car being apart for upgrades etc.) but I can get them. Great score on those motors. By the way, I used to work in a import yard, and I know that sometimes they get a little ambitious and sell expensive stuff way too cheap, then kick themselves later. My old boss sold a fairly recently rebuilt 22re (that's a Toyota P/U motor) for 300 bux. That motor easlily could have fetched 1200-1500 bux. OOPS.

i called there today and the guy explained to me how this thing works. he said it's basically any of their cars behind the hold (?? whatever that is) this sale is for. from what i could get from him, it sounds like all their old krap they wanna get rid of. they definately aren't gonna let go of a t56 for that. he said no on any lt1 or ls1 motors too. just a little fyi.

Hmm Thats weird, But I buy ALOT of stuff from there, so Im really good friends with them. Ill have to talk to them, cause other than the two Z28's they have that Im getting the motors from, they had like a 96 T/A and two more newer Z28's......Thats not very nice of them...Hell its almost like false advertising. Ill call them and tell them if they arent gonna stick to their end of the ad, then I wont recommend any more people to them
That makes me look like a jerk. Ill keep you guys posted. Hell, I thought I was helping them and you guys out as well.

I do not believe for a second that you bought an LS1 and an LT1 for 100 dollars each. Hell, someone that works there would have yanked the engines themselves and kept them. Any thing from a corvette, z28 ws6 is automatically expensive where I am from. But maybe you found the worlds dumbest junk yard owners. I would assume that the LS1 could get over 2k for. If it runs, of course. The LT1 is probably worth 1500 bucks. Could you reserve me an LT5 for 100 bucks? I'll give you $2000 in profit!

Theres no need to get pissed or anything. I do not really care whether or not you beleive me. The fact is, they goofed when they printed the ad and put out the commercial on my local TV. Im good friends with them and send them ALOT of business locally and when I heard they had this deal, of course I jumped on it. They meant in their ad the engines/trannies, etc in their "hold" which is a warehouse basically of old crap so to speak. BUT, thats not what the ad says
SO I told them to either give me those two motors, or I would contact my lawyer for false advertisement. Thats what really happened. I dont think they want to lose me as a customer as much as I spend there. Sorry I posted this and got everybody's hopes up. I did not know they would act this way. Ive been in touch with the owner(he's my neighbor) and told him I didnt appreciate him treating my friends that way..........win some, lose some.

I tell you what, whoever lives kinda close to me should contact him, and tell him you saw his ad on the internet, and when he says "thats not what the ad says", or "not for THOSE engines", tell him it says ANY ENGINE.....then say you and whoever else on this site will contact an attorney or news station(IM doing that now....hehe) and see what he says then......He should get burned for false advertisement. My parents attorney said that for me to "print out the ad and go out there, pick out the motor(s) I want and then give him $100-200 and show him the ad.....He lawfully has to respect his ad or go to court". That was a quote from him.........Just some info

I deal with Besslers junkyard frequently and they are very nice people who have some great specials. It is supposed to be general knowledge (beside the fact it is in print on the website and in the ads) that the deals are on items in the yard only. Please don't give this guy a bad name because you got a little excited without understanding what the special was. This is by far the best junkyard I have dealt with and I go to many. Remember the old saying, if it is to good to be true it probably is. A LS1 for $100 bucks? Give me a break, not saying it couldn't be done but by a junkyard? This guy is brighter than most junkyard owners I have met. Just my $.02
P.S. I may stop down there monday just to see if there are any new and good motors for any of us but unless you want a 2.8 liter or a v8 from an old caprice or something, I think you are out of luck.
