Does this Accel base look OK to you?

Bought a used accel superram base on ebay. Got it recently and it looks a little rough to me, although Ive never seen a new one before so I cant compare it to anything. The thing that bothers me the most is the holes where the injectors fit into. On the inside in the air passages the holes appear to be worn irregularly, some worse than others. Why would there be wear in this area? This it just air and fuel going by right? Please look at the photo and let me know what you think.
Other than that the base doesn't seem too bad. It looks like it has recieved some kind of silver paint job in parts to spiff it up.

Hopefully I havent' wasted my money on a piece of junk

OK, in other words bead blasted or something to clean it up. But it should present a problem right? Also the air passages are not smoothed or honed or whatever you call it. Is it worth the effort to polish them? Probably not, after all the plenum and runners are not smoothed like that either

What does the top of the injector boss look like? Can you take another pic?

I took a picture but it is hard to see inside the hole. from the top down to a ring/lip it looks fine. Never having changed injectors I assume that the ring or lip I see around the hole about 1/2 way down serves to hold the injector in somehow. On two of the more worn holes on the bottom (see other foto) part of the lip has been worn away, maybe 1/10 of the circumfrence one one, and maybe 1/8 on the other. In other words if you look down nto the hole from the top, you see a gap in the ring. Uh oh? The injectors have an o ring to make the seal right? Is this going to be a problem?

Not that this totally answers your question but...

I have a new, never used Accel intake manifold that looks just like yours on the underside. The area around the injector seats is somewhat rough and irregular.

Hopefully this is not a problem, but I'm sure someone knows better than me.

I got mine new and the casting was rough. Is your intake ported? When I ported mine that cut into the injector hole and gave the appearance similar to what yours looks like. I think you're ok on the injector holes, the lip should just limit the depth of the injector. The o-rings seal to the walls independently of the lip. I don't think I would try to port it any larger on the top side of the port.

One thing that really disappointed me about my Accel intake was that several of the divider walls between the intake ports were cast too thin in areas and I don't think there's enough to seal well. I'm going to take it to a machine shop and have them weld & fill this in, then port it back to match the gasket.

Good luck.

OK, its probably allright then. It really doesnt look bad, except in that area of the injector holes on the bottom. I dont believe this has been ported, the walls between the passes are pretty thin but not nearly close to communicating. Again, I did notice that the air passages are rough to the touch, texture you know. Some people say they should be polished but I cant imagine this making a noticable difference. Thanks guys, I feel better now. Now all I need is the Plenum and runners (well and a 219 cam, AFR 190 heads, and a pile of other gofast parts, haha).

That's how they looked on my Accel base when I got it and they are OK like that, there castings are not that great. I spent sometime cleaning up the intake tracks in my base, you would be surprised how rough they are.
