Your probably going to need to remove your Y pipe, theres really no way around it. You could try losening the bolts and see if it will move out of your way enough though.
yeah thats definetly what i didnt want to hear my y pipe is welded to my cats and all the bolts are like heated so this should be interesting its definetly going to involve some beer hahaa

For the stock size starter, I found that just unbolting the connection at the exhaust manifold on both sides of the engine allowed the y-pipe assembly to drop down enough to be able to move the starter around in there. Although it added yet another step to the process, I didn't find that this was all too difficult to do, and made the process much much easier.

Sorry if im too late, but i did both starters in my 2 cars and the same issue came up. No matter whay i did, i couldnt get it out. I ended up disconnecting the solenoid to get it out and doing the exact opposite to get it in. The dual cat cars are the worst. And sometomes the bolts on the pipes are way to rusted to un-do.
okay i got it up by removing the solenoid but now i dont knoww which wires go where? i have 3 that look like they go on the the big thread and then one little one for the little thread but theres two smaller threads and i only have one small wire, this make any sense?
