LT-1 crank in L-98 TPI 350????

Will a Lt1 crank work with a tpi motor? I know that the lt1 cranks are stronger, but not sure if they will work with the L-98 350? If not what are the reasons for them not working?

Is there any reason not to use the lt1 crank? Or do you think it would be a wise thing to do?

dang

i'd say they balance differently...... but i would go with a factory or a new scat 9000 series..... either will handle more than probably the block would......

think about it.. whens the last time you ever heard of a l98 crank breaking?

Research this a bit more before doing it. I seem to remember that the LT1 crank is built more like the 305 crank. Its a lighter weight setup. I think the question was posted the other way around though, about using a 350 crank in an LT1.

Does anyone know someone selling a L-98 crank???
I have the LT-1 crank just sitting around and am building a L-98 to bolt up to a t-56. I am just starting with a bare block, thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to use it since I have a LT-1 crank sitting around.

if you have the crank just use it dood... i have one that i am gonna put in my 355 here this summer... only difference is that the LT1 crank only has a half woodruf key while the regular SBC cranks have a full key... to make the LT1 crank work just tap out the one in there now and install a normal full key...

and yes the L98 350 crank is balanced differntly than the LT1 crank... w/ the LT1 engine they used lighter pistons and rods so they balanced the crank differently... but it will work... i am gonna install mine w/ the LT1 crank and LT1 PM rods... and a light weight piston to try and help the balancing process...

If you use the factory PM rods or 305 rods, you'll have an easier time balancing the rotating assembly.
