3rdGenResource TPI Setup ???

I am looking to make an offer on the 85 or 87 Z28 thats at a local gas station. The previous owner bought it for their son but he let someone break into it and bust the ignition switch. It was brought in the shop to have that replaced, but the owner never paid. It has an LG4 and an Auto. Hardtop. The body is striaght with two deep scratches with minor rust starting.

Its been sitting a while so the battery is dead, so pending it starts, I might make an offer of around $650. He's asking $800. Says I should be able to barely drive it home, runs real rough.

He made sure I understood that this is a project that'll probally need a $1500 to make a nice car outa it.

It has a carb that he says needs to be replaced and possibly the power steering pump too.

I want TPI for its efficiency and better MPG, but unsure if its a wise decision to swap.

Third Gen Resource has a TPI swap Kit for $450 that includes intake, runners, fuel rail, ECM, MAF, plenum, wiring harness, distributor and bolts.

What else would be needed to install this? Looks like I'll need gaskets and possibly some sensors??

So you're in it for 3grand (assuming 1500 put's it into shape).

Pretty sure you could find an L98 3rdgen already to go for that or less awithout having to do a bunch of work converting and replacing unknown as yet parts.

I am looking for "project" so yes, I want something to work on. I not looking for something fast and I not looking on keeping the car forever. Just to eventually replace my '94 a daily driver and either drop an LT1 into my my 94 or sell the '94 and get a GTA for fun.

I wouldn't swap to TPI...too much of a restriction for the $$$...

Instead, swap the CCC carb and distributor out for a regular carb and distributor...

You can tune a carb pretty decently...it certainly isn't as easy as EFI, but if you have a budget for this car, you stay carbed...

Good luck,

Good luck,
I would only keep TPI on long enough to pass emmsions then swap over to a superram or something like that. I would need all the tpi sensors and harness and stuff to do that any. This route seems more reasonable to do. It'll be a street car if I get it.

The non-cc carb and HEI sound like a fun swap, but I would have to pass emmissions so I think thats outa the question.

Does this kit come with everything I need to get up and running?

Tell me what the seller says. I'd like to have a TPI setup too.

You guys can find comlpete TPI setups on ebay for less than $500 dollars.
Might now be new, but they make the same job.

With ebay, theirs always the extra risk. Not getting your parts, getting faulty parts, or getting the wrong parts. And your stuck with it.

Well, you bid on what you see. If you receive something wrong or some parts are misssing, you can always complain and get your maoney back, or even you can ask ebay to make a "more professional complain".
But I know, people usually want to sell things on poor condition, and they'll say "like new".
