Crane CompuCam2032

Ok this is the cam I have decided on CRN-104224 from summit. It is like $270. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions of what other valvetrain components to run in accordance with this camshaft (rockers, pushrods, lifters etc.) Here is what I plan to do so everyone has an idea of what else will be going with this cam.

2020 cam

I ran this cam in my 305 with stock roller lifters, pushrods and rockers with no trouble. I now run the same cam in my 350 with 1.6 roller rockers.
Crane makes specific valve spring suggestions on the cam card and unless your springs are pretty new, I would consider changing to new ones.

I edited the original post I meant to put the 2032 cam the first time not the 2020. Ok here is what I have come up with for the rest of the valve train. Also one question I think our rockers are self-alining am I correct? The parts that I am getting form Advanced Auto Parts are actually cheaper than Summit (I double checked that they were actually the right parts!)

Crane Gold Race Extruded Roller Rockers (summit CRN-10758-16)
$309.95

Sealed Power Pushrods 7.192" overall length (Advanced Auto Parts RP3262)
$63.84

Sealed Power Roller Lifters (Advanced Auto Parts HT2148)
$129.44

Edelbrock Timing Chain Set (Summit EDL-7801)
$65.95

crane 2020

I don't know what the lift is on the 2032 cam. Best you check with crane.
You can use the stock roller lifters and probably the stock push rods.
Yes, the rockers are self-aligning since 1987.

The S/R Torquer 305 Heads can handle .560" max lift right out of the box, so I am not worried about that. I plan to buy all of my performance parts and then put them all on at the same time. I obviously do not plan on doing this until I want to rebuild the motor that is only 1.5 years old. When I do however I want to do it right the first time.

Then stay away from Aluminum roller rockers. They were never intended for the street, they were made for race applications where they tear the engine down after a few races and usually just throw the rockers away. They wern't built to withstand the rigors of being driven daily and to last 100k miles.
If you MUST have roller rockers, get either Crane's chrome molly's or even better, Crower's stainless steel roller rockers. Either of those should last a substantial time and can be rebuilt (replace the needle bearings) many times.

Do you have any part #'s because on the Crower I only see these:

CRO-73601 Chevrolet: 262-400, 1.5 ratio, 7/16 in. stud, roller rocker arms (summit)

I want 1.6 ratio rollers with the 3/8 in. studs.

Perhaps I could go with this set:

CCA-1418-16 Chevrolet: 1987-up 305, 350 with self aligning, 3/8 in. stud, 1.6 ratio, chromemoly, roller tip rockers (summit)

One suggestion: Don't buy new pushrods until you have the assembly together.

Then measure - with one of the many pushrod measuring tools - to see exactly what length you need. This is the recommended way to do it.

Moroso and others sell an inexpensive tool for that purpose.

NP. Crower isn't cheap, but they are absolutely the best.

Yeah that's true I know you are not supposed to do the pushrods until you measure, but I was just putting them down as a rough idea of what I will use.

The Crower are definitely the best but I think for the street use I plan on the Comp Cams will be good. If I was planning on more track use I would definitely go with the Crower, but this car will not see the track very often. Besides I have no idea where I will even be when I get based in the Army. I might actually wind up over in Germany. Good old military intelligence

Don't knock it. My best times and memories of the military are from when I was stationed in Germany. I loved that country and would love to visit again.
