It turns over...and over...and over...
Problem:
The car just turns over, and over, and over. Every once in a blue moon, it'll fire up and run with no problem. Last time it did, I took it for a test drive around the neighborhood and when I got home, shut it off and had to push it back into the garage because it wouldn't fire again. I'm getting spark to my distributor cap, but not past it. I'm also getting fuel, so no problem there.
What's been done:
Replaced the coil (old one was dead).
Replaced pickup coil (twice).
Replaced ignition module.
New cap.
New rotor.
New spark controller.
Checked for 12v at pink wire on coil. Good.
Checked for continuity in two-wire connector going from coil to distributor. Good.
Tested pickup coil. Good.
Cleaned and rebuilt distributor.
I'm at a loss. Could my VATS be playing with me? Everywhere I've read says that the starter shouldn't even turn when the VATS goes out, but that's not what's happening to me. I'm just getting no spark. I'm also getting no codes except for the MAF code, but the MAF tests out fine, so I'm counting that as just "one of those things".
Any ideas? Anyone?

If you're getting spark to the distributor and you're getting fuel, then it is not a VAT's related issue. Have you checked the MAF sensor relay or the MAF burn-off relay since you are getting a MAF trouble code. Also, have you checked the electronic spark control (ESC) module? Just a thought!!!!!!!!!

The ESC is pretty much brand new. I've also tried replacing it with one out of a friend's car and the same thing happens.
Both MAF relays are still pretty much brand new too. I've also replaced them with known working ones.

If you would like it, I have a troubleshooting chart from the GM service manual for the ignition system that I can e-mail you. It might be able to help some with your problem.

Sorry Redrummer,
When you mentioned about the copy you already had, I did some checking and found that I had already sent you a copy of it previously. I will do a little more checking and see what I can find for you.
