Ford Injector Flowbench Data - Check it.
I sent my Ford SVO 36# injectors to Rich at <a href="www.cruzinperformance.com">Cruzin Performance</a> for
testing.
His response after testing was:
"Hi Joe,
I have flow tested your injectors. They appear to be in "like new" condition
and are all flowing within 3% of each other. I don't think that cleaning
them will improve their flow."
Now these are for Ford 36# injectors, tested at 43.5 psi. As you can see the 36# injectors flow at, 36#. I was under the asumption like a lot of people, that Ford 36# injectors flor around 38#..

I dunno. I just sold my set of 24#.
I'm sure _someone_ on here has had a set of 24# flow benched.
I was sick of "guessing" I know most everyone says the SVO's flow more, I needed to know. Plus if mine were dirty, I wanted them cleaned.

Just thought I would share the numbers from a recent cleaning of a set of 30# "SVO" injectors done at Cruzin Performance.
Test pressure = 43.5 psi

They set the test pressure, and time how long it takes to dump 100ml (or another amount) of fluid while the injector is static.
When testing "known" injectors, they can set the pressure and set how long to spray fluid. So say 36# injectors should take xxxx long to dump 100ml, they will do that, then check each tube. If they are all at 100ml, then all the injectors are great. Some may be higher or lower.. They should all be within 3%.
If the tubes have way less than 100ml, then either the injector is smaller than originally thought, or VERY dirty. After some cleaning, they will retest them.
If the test fluid is the same specific gravity of gas, then they have the exact #/hr rating. If not, they have to convert the numbers based on how different the test fluid is.

From what I understand, GM injectors are flowed and rated at a higher PSI than Ford injectors. That is why they a Ford 24# injector flow more like a higher rated GM injectors. Bump up the pressure on the Ford injectors and it will flow more than its rated at. I can't remember what GM injectors are rated at though. Any body know what GM injectors are rated at?

Flowrates.
The difference is probably more likely to come from the fuel density used in Cruizin's calculations. From these results, they are using a fuel SG of 0.648 which is very light. I'm not sure what the fuel SG is in the US but in Australia it is between 0.72 and 0.75 depending on the octane rating etc. I doubt that US fuel differs very much from this range.
If these calculations were based on a fuel SG of 0.72, the 35#/hr flowrates become 39.9#/hr.

The results I posted were calculated at the specific gravity of unleaded pump gas.
The test fluid is different, and the computer calculates it out.
