If your running tpi and can't tune your own chip I would'nt go much bigger than 210 degrees on the intake side.

i can't tune my chip....i know this however i'm learning. the problem is no one in the tri state area (certified shop wise) can tune the stock ecm and get it to start on its own.

it's programmed now to run and it runs decent but it will not start very well and when it does it spits up dixie cups of fuel.....if i don't play with the throttle til it warms up the car will foul the plugs.

i've called over 30 shops in michigan and outside and all of them have said we can do basic chip burns on mild stuff but anything with the type of engine i have will require an upgrade to fast or dfi setups.

i find this hard to believe when you have all the similar tools to use on a stock ecm for chip burning. if anyone can program me a chip that will just start my car with out any stupid tricks i will personally deliver them a very nice reward.

according to 50+ so called professionals it can't be done.

My cam @ .050 is 230/236, it's a Comp Cams hyd roller. This is on a 350 with a HSR intake. I don't remember the vacuum readings off my MAP sensor but it idles well enough to run my power brakes. Granted I'm using a Holley C950 ECU, so I have idle and part throttle dialed in.

FWIW, before I switched to the Holley C950, I had the MAF with a custom prom. Just for the hell of it I threw in the stock chip with my big cam and HSR and surprisingly it idled quite well on its own and ran decent.

That's why I find hard it to believe no one in your area can burn a correct prom for your car. If they say you need to switch to DFI then it's BS, they just want your money.

I'll definitely call BS to the them telling you have to swap to DFI. Give Ed wright a try at fastchip. He can get you alot closer than where you are. What is your motor and cam specs? My old file might help you out. But to answer your first question, I would keep it under 230 duration to play it safe.

motor is a 388 with 58 tb and miniram III intake, all the belles and whistles on fastburn heads using 1.6 rr's with comp cam hydra roller that's 230/236 @ .050 with 111.0 lsa. the motor is 10.8 to 1 compression running 4" cai, 1 2/4" lt's with 4" exhaust. anything else?

anyone who thinks they can take a stab at even getting thing to start on its own without pedal tricks or either like the last guy told me to try will be worth their time.

if anyone is interested email me and i'll get a copy of the file to look at.

thats a very similar motor to what i have. I have a 388, AFR 195cc heads, Miniram, 222/230 cam. Is yours a Stick or Auto. My file is for a stick. I'm gonna have to dig it up. But mine should work as a start up file since its not that far apart from your motor.

Did you get my bin file? Also Traxion or Mike Davis have tuned some pretty big cams using the factory 7730ECM. I believe Traxion's Lethal EFI Cam is probably equvailent to your cam right now and his motor was a 350.

Hey Kandi did you get your problem fixed?
I was also wanting to know what size injectors you have??
I have a 383 with a crane 223/223 with 1.6's performer heads etc etc..I got my chip burned from a guy here in Houston...The chip runs in open loop and thats the only way that I get a decent idle... If I put the stock chip back in my car does exactly what yours does and just falls flat on its face (wont idle for ishhhhhhhhh)..

Hey kandi, The reason I asked was I had the orange 30 lb SVO injectors as well I installed them in my rails and gave them a try and my car ran like crap and ran extremely rich (dark black smoke at full throttle even half) my motor wouldnt idle for crap.. bought another set thinking it might be a few of them sticking open, then another guy in here told me the 30 lb injectors wont work well unless you have a dfi set up... I purchased 24's SVO's the blue ones and it runs strong idles good... Do you know if any one else in here is getting away with factory ecm and a chip upgrade with out any problems running 30 pounders.... My motor is very similiar to yours as well...

I had 30 lb injectors in my motor. Mine ran pretty good, with a extremely good idle at 750rpm. My motor just needed fine tuning on the dyno that i never got a chance to do before i put on the supercharger and DFI.
