1988 Iroc Stock Needs Upgraded
I have a tpi 305 1988 IROC Z
I need more power all around
can anyone tell me the best mods I can get at reasonable price?
All I have so far is a new shifter
Air foil?
KN Air filters?
Headers?
Exhaust?
MSD stuff?
Chip?
NOS? what size shot won't hurt my engine?
or does any one no where I can get a reasonable priced new or used supercharger?

Cut off the bottoms of your airboxes, and get K&Ns.
Headers, !cats or aftermarket cats, catback exhaust.
You'll feel a big difference after that very basic stuff.

Free mods, listed here on this website, and a set of underdrive pulleys would also be a nice improvement. Is your car a auto? If it is a Torque Converter is worth it's weight in gold!!

Take off your airlid - the Y shaped plastic at front of engine bay with the six twist-lock tabs.
Underneath, take off the two filters. See that garbage there? That is nothing but plastic restricting the filters access to air.
You can eaily unscrew the lower air box housing and cut off all of that stuff right underneath the lip of where the filter sits.
Should have been that way from factory!!

What has already been mentioned is common law... beyond that you can do the typical first stage of weight loss: remove backseats and bolts, remove seat belt retractors and bolts, remove spare and jack. All told about 75lbs worth of junk or about 6 or 7 RWHP equivalent.
Also, gearing and a torque converter will make a huge difference! A slightly looser aftermarket converter and the next step lower in gearing will wake that b**ch up off the line!

Don't mess with a chip. Not a brand name aftermarket chip anyway. There are a few people like Ed Wright at Fastchips, and a few others than program chips that are actually worth anything, but don't mess with Hypertech or Jet, or anything like that. To truly burn a chip properly, your car needs to be present, and it's gonna take more than one chip to get it right. You can learn how to do it yourself, and the cost of the equipment is about the same as a good chip that someone would burn for you. I'm not gonna suggest doing it yourself though,it takes quite a bit of time and experience, but if you're up to it, it can be done!
Don't take that the wrong way though. Some of these guys here at TGO know engines inside and out, and programming their own chips is just the next logical step. I myself am just starting to understand how all the different systems work together, and how they effect performance. I am not at the point where I feel that I can really learn how to effectively burn my own chips. (yet). If you feel you're up to it, I say go for it!!
