cold air inatke
cold air inatke
What does everyone suggest for a cold air intake on a 91 trans am. I made a custom one out of pvc, but me being the dumba** that I am at time sdidnt think the overflow nipple on my radiator would snap off from the weight, but it did.
I saw a really nice cistom welded setup for sale in the classifieds here, but it looks to be th esame size as my ild air intake was, and i dont think it will clear the valve on the radiator. Any ideas?

I haven't had any problems with my custom one. 3" mild steel piping, silicone hose from http://www.bakerprecision.com, and an S&B filter.

What filter did you use? I'm making my own piping but have no idea how to find a filter to put on the end of it (hopefully that will fit over a 3.5" pipe)

Does the aftermarket lt1 intake elbow (the metal one in summit) stick out far enough over the pulleys and such?

I have a 1989 Trans Am with TPI and I just ordered the LT1 elbow from Summit. I happened to have a piece of of 4 inch hose that I can use to extend the LT1 away from the throttle body. The hose is long enough so that I can cut it to length and it will clear the pulleys and serpentine belt. I don't know if the one they supply in the kit is long enough. I should get the kit tomorrow. As I understand it the inlet side is 3.5" in diameter. This should make for good air flow and is superior to the stock Trans Am piece. Allen
