Who has broken Scat 9000 Crankshafts

Im looking at building a 383 with this crank and wondering if it will hold up. Has Anyone broken one? If you did how much power were u making and what were u spining it to?

Are eagle I beam rods any good? who has broke thoughs?

I wont be spining it past 6krpm and thinking about 300-400hp thanks

You should have no problem at all making that kind of power with that crank. I'm using the same one and probably making 350-400 at the flywheel if not more.

I have the eagle version but I'm using forged H beams also. No probs with the crank. I got the rods really cheap, thats why I went with those.

you should be fine with a cast crank around 400 hp. just dont rev it over 6 grand and you should be fine

Scat is the very first company who started to mass produce the after market stroker crank in that late 80's they are cheap in price and strong compared to many other companys out there.
The weak link is going to be your connecting rods or pistons.

I rev mine to 6700 rpm with around 492 hp at the crank. From what I remember those crank are rated at 650 hp NA.

I had that exact combo in my 1992 vette. Scat cast crank, Eagle I-beams, and probe pistons.

I made 475 RWHP and 620 RWTQ on a 100 shot of juice without any trouble. On engine alone it made 380 RWHP 390 RWTQ. That's well over your goals and it lasted me past 20,000 miles.

I believe it was a Scat crank Willie broke in his 305.

A well prepared stock cast crank, polished and stress-relieved rods, and a good balance will generally take 450 HP all day long.

If anyone had paid any attention to preparing the Scat or any other cast Chinese crank, it should do as well as stock.

Willie's wasn't a cast crank, it was an alleged forging.

Breaking a crank is almost never heard of especially an after market made. It is usually the parts that ride on the crank that give, connecting rods or pistons or a spun bearing is more likely.

IMO cranks are the least likely part to break unless your spraying or boosting heavy.
