what's your gas mileage??
It seems I'm getting getting close to 14 mpg in town if I stay off the pedal. Sucks with gas prices so high. Does anyone know what size our tanks are?? What kind of mileage are yhou getting??
Gas mileage
I have an 88 Iroc with 5.7 litre that right now is getting 18.5 mpg driving in stop and go traffic, I have not had it on the highway yet but I expect well over 20 easily.
I believe the gas tanks are somewhere around 15 gallons, give or take 1/2 gallon. I am sure someone here knows exactly. Larry.

It'd be super spiffy if the "Delete Post" at the top actually worked for users.

Just took a highway trip.
From Lake Tahoe to Bakersfield. 27.63
For a car with 141K and the factory trans/diff fluids, that can't be bad. All it has is a cleaned-up plenum, F0rd 19lb injectors, Holley AFPR and Dynomax 3" muffler replacing the Flow in a Force II system. This was with me, my wife and over 200lb of crap on board (jack, stand, spare wheels, trip luggage, etc.) Cruise control and under 80mph helped, as did the bitchin' new fiberglass hood (thanks 87tpi!)
City is around 15 but that's driver exuberance
K
PS Wait, had a K&N too
Edit: L98 car too...

86 305 tpi w/3.42 gears. original 700r4 = 20 city, 23 highway
replacement 700r4 w/shift kit = 16 city, ?? highway
the speed at which it goes into OD and when the tc locks up
cam make a big difference. looks like I'll have to get the original rebuilt and put it back in

I was getting about 12 around town, 24 on the freeway on my Bone Stock 305 with a 700r4 and 3.08 gears. I'll be the first to say it had to be way out of tune.
I am hoping I can pull off something more like 16/24 with my new engine and some good tuning, we'll see.

12-14MPG or so, mostly highway.
~200 miles to the tank.
Thats changing though, after some modifications, I am looking to get about 230 or so miles off of my current tank. Plus, the next one will be even more since I started this tank with a bad tune.
Something was wrong with my last chip and I got a total of 138 miles off of my last tank. That ate the pocket book nicely.

With the stock 305 I got 24.5 on the highway and around 18 in town.
With the first incarnation of the engine I have now (lightweight pistons instead of lead slugs) I got 15-16 around town and 24.5 on the Hwy.
The current engine has never run correctly and I still got 21.5 driving 75 mph using the AC on a trip from Bakersfield to San Diego. That includes some mild stop and go traffic through Los Angeles...
Running 3.42's. Should be able to get better gas mileage once I have some time to tune the chip......

I best I ever got when the car was new was 29 mpg cruising in 5th gear going the speed limit on flat ground. Our this was converted from litres to imperial gallons.

When my car was bone stock and through eprom changes alone, I achieved US30 mpg or 36 mph Cdn/Imperial. I achieved this driving in a mountainous area from Kamloops to Calgary (over 600 kms) and I burnt less than 50 litres of gas.
And yes, I was running VERY LEAN by invoking Highway Mode in the eprom. How does 17.5:1 grab you?
The savings in gas alone paid for all my eprom burning equipment.

Hmm, I cannot recall 100%, but I believe I pulled 19 MPG city. Normal driving with a few high rpm shifts.

That's it.
I'm getting the materials to burn my own eproms NOW...especially with gas prices heading to European levels...

Hey all went on a 1200 mile trip back home. Ms to Ct. Gas prices went from 2.21 to 2.45. all 93 and higher. my car gets like 11mpg in the city but when i was on the highway doing 80 at 3000rpm i got 18mpg. I'm so glad for that only had a 200.00 dollar gas bill.
I had a lot of stop and go driving so I did an el-cheapo trick and lowered the idle from where it was at 800 or so to like 550, it made around a 5mph difference. I got 24 to 28 on a mpfi v6, depending on how I drove.
