Just curious, why stick with the stock cam if you have done motor work? Or is this conversation based on stock lower ends with just bolt-ons?

My car has the cam that came in it from the factory when I bought it new. The car is a 1989 Trans Am GTA 350 with of course the L98 engine.

I have turned a 12.73 and 105.85 at California Speedway in Fontana. I'm using 1.6RR with Trickflow Heads. Allen

I have an 88 Iroc that runs a best time of 13.75 @ 98mph with the stock cam, stock heads, stock rearend gear(2.73) and some aftermarket bolt ons.

Sounds like some good running cars for a stock cam!

Confession time: Actually my car does have the cam that came with it. However Chet Herbert Cams did a little grinding on the lobes and turned it into a ZZ9 equivalent.

1989, did the undersized lobes cause any geometry problems and does that pose any concerns?

Talked it over with Chet Herbert and the consenus was I did not need special push rods. Dyno Don refreshed my motor last year and came to same conclusion. Have about 35000 miles on the valve train with no problems. Allen
