I might go with something a hair bigger (215/225 range) if you plan on doing a baseplate and runners in the future, but if you plan on going through all the effort of a cam swap and keeping the stock intake - that looks like a decent cam, very similar to the l98.
Just remember - Cam Opinions vary greatly - that's just my opinion.

Well I only payed $500 for the car. Tranny is gone but got one to replace it at no cost. If I can find a used Vortec TPI base I will use that because I have a set of 305 Vortec heads to use. So you can see im trying to keep the cost down to make a decet running car. I have future plans if I cant get the title to my 5speed car to swap the drivetrain for it to the Iroc.

I ran a cam with the exact same specs in my 86 IROC's 305 TPI (didn't buy it from Summit but it's probably made by the same company...)
It worked pretty great IMO, it's a vast improvement over the peanut cam that's in there. It's a good choice if you're not going all out with heads/intake mods IMO, and probably not too bad if you are anyway and want to stay on the conservative side. Summit also sells a generic 214/224 @.050 cam if you wanted to step it up just a bit. You didn't state if it was carbed or TPI, but the smaller cam would probably be a better choice for a relatively stock TPI car, the larger cam has a better chance of working well w/ the carbed car, especially if it's a manual. Not sure how well the larger cam would run w/ the stock programming and torque converter in the TPI car. The 204/214 cam however works just fine w/ the stock tune/TC in my opinion...

Re: Summit TPI cam
For all the work to pull a cam to gain 20hp. Your much better just adding a self contained 6lbs boost supercharger. Buddy had a bone stock 86 305 with a Paxton's ball drive. 2032 compucam headers and exhaust. 13.2 at 104 just an fyi. If you do a supercharger you can go back to stock if the originality is what you want to keep right down to original unopened motor. I mention this because you said 1 out of 86 made. Dont know what you looking to achieve as you didnt touch on it and the thread has spiraled into other things.

Yeah, this is an old thread. I was on a tight budget 14 years ago as I was just married. My car was an '86, not 1 of 86. Not sure where you got that from.
