What is this on the bottom of my Throttle Body? PIC

I have this Lingenfelter Performance Engineering 58mm TB that I bought. On the back there is this thing that says

MPFI Rochester Products, Product Number is 17075921 and has a sensor in it, what exacty is it, what does it do...is it aftermarket? What do they cost? Call me an idiot but this isn't what is on my current TB.

It is where your coolant runs through the throttle body to heat up the TB, for those who live up north. And I also think your IAC(Idle Air Control) plugs in there. I bypassed my coolant from the TB, but kept my IAC plugged in.

The housing and IAC "should" be on your old throttle body. It's a stock GM part that are on all TPI throttle bodies.

How does your old throttle body not have one? If it's a TPI, it has to have one for everything to connect up and work (TB bypass excluded)

y did you bypass it? my guess is that a cooler tb is a better tb, did yoiu pick up any noticable gains or see any changes in driveability?

You won't notice any performance gains or losses, but I was removing all the clutter around my engine...a/c, air pump, canister, coolant lines, heater core, to make the engine easier to work on. My car is not a daily driver so some of the OEM components aren't necessary on a car built for the drag strip.

I just keep my fans on longer to cool my engine, so the coolant lines for the oil and TB weren't necessary.

An old thread, but am looking for this same part. Typed in tpiparts.com, and it took me to turbo parts.........will try calling the phone number later. Any other known source for a replacement housing?

Re: What is this on the bottom of my Throttle Body? PIC

the previous owner of my 87 Iroc bypassed the coolant from the throttle body. Are there any negative effects on the way the engine runs. Will there be problems in cold weather?

I really dont understand why he did it, and I'm thinking about just reconnecting it, but I dont know if its worth it.
