How's my combo look?
I had posted a message under "After market product review" for some messages, but had been advised to get try and get responses from here, hopefully I can get some more advice/comments. Im not a mechanic wiz, however know a fair amount.
I have a 92 Z28 w/33,000 original miles, very solid motor and current mods posted in my signature. I am looking to upgrade my Intake to the MiniRam-I and a 58mm TB. Got them both for 1/2 the original price, couldn't turn it down. I am aware that 58mm may be too large for the application, however considering Im upgrading the cam to a ZZ-409, may it free up the breathing? I've been told by TPiS that it wouldn't do it any harm, given the computer was tuned right. Has anybody had this combo, or similar before? Whatya think? Other future upgrades after this is 4.10 gears to match the higher RPM powerband the MiniRam offers.
Let me know what your thoughts are on the 58mm, go or no go? Thanks.

Yah, that was my intention to sell both the Siamese runners and Comp Cams camshaft. My original plan was to put them on Ebay but haven't yet thought of a price. I can defenitely entertain any reasonable offers, however wouldn't be looking to sell until say February, March or so when i start doing my mod's. I'll post the exact specs of the Cam as soon as I get home from work, its all listed on the paperwork. All I know off top of my head is a .320 lobe lift...w/a 1.5 rocker = .480 gross.

The runners on my motor in the pic I posted are SLP semi-siamesed runners.
If you have a set like those, I may take them off your hands.

okay, I will keep in touch as time comes to take them off....you can email me if you like mkramer11@wi.rr.com. Happy holidays
- your combo looks good. I'm not big on the "ZZ" and/or "Hot cams" because of price. You could find a comparable cam in a comp or other aftermarket brand cheaper. If you're getting the cam w/ the intake and TB, then go for it. - Put the combo together w/ you 3.42 gears and see how she runs first. You may find you don't want to step all the way to 4.10's, depending on you rdriving. - if you look on the thirdgen homepage, you'll find the equations to figure your rpm @ "x" mph w/ "x" gears. - transmission gear(OD) is .70 -
p.s. - I also previously responded in aftermarket product review

Cam specs
As I mentioned earlier for anyone who may be potentially interested in purchasing my existing camshaft, I added my cam specs in my signature. I will be doing these mods early spring, February/March, so if anyone is intersted in my camshaft, let me know and I'll keep in touch. Have no price range on it as of right now, any reasonable offer is entertainable. both the cam and runners have about 10,000 miles on it. Synthetic oil used.

I have a different picture....I unattached my mail box from my fin
Ha, since this pic, I have also tore off the purple strip on top of windshield from previous owner. I like it looking stock, with the exception of my 17" Centerline rims. Still have stock tires/rims layin around the house in a closet.

Well, if he puts the mini ram on he will need 3.73 or higher with that intake.
I also agree with Shagwell on the cam selection and please stop calling the guys at TPIS there tech support sucks they tell you what they want you to know and not the all the facts to get you to buy there products. Get a cam that has a duration between 220 to 228 on both the intake and exhaust with a lift above .500 on both int/exh on a 112 LSA. Your twisted wedge heads can only handle .520 lift because of the valve geometry, so watch for coil bind. I know about those heads because I used to have them. Also make sure your valve springs can handle the lift and 52mm TB will do just fine. Other than that it sounds like a good plan. Good luck!

Does anyone know the CFM flow of the G2 twisted wedge heads? It will match up with the 1205 gasket to the mini-ram. Wondering if I should get my heads ported right away when I change out my valve springs, cam and intake. Considering the use of a 58mm, maybe that will get rid of some of the turbulence?

Call trickflow and talk to Art, his is one of the tech guys. If I remember correctly he told me that they flow 241/189 cfm @ .550. Those heads has a very good mid lift flow. Meaning it can out flow alot of the 23 degree heads on the market today at .400 lift. A 58mm TB will not get rid of turbulance only tuning in the chip can do that unless you have a vac leak somewhere.

oh no, what i meant by getting rid of the turbulenc was if i were to port the heads...the 58mm is sucking all this air in, with the trickflow heads not ported, does that cause turbulence? Wondering if they were to be ported to allow more cfm's, perhaps that would rid the turbulence. sorry for the confusion.

Anytime you port the heads you can pick up some hp, but a 52mm would do fine for your set-up. I would get a 58mm TB if where going to go up in cubic inches in the near future

Hey, I have a couple of interested parties as of this time. I have not yet had any committed offers. I just saw a set go on ebay for $242.00. I would be willing to accept $200 for them. Otherwise I would put them on eBay myself. It turns out that with this combo I am getting myself into requires alot more than I thought. I got the TPIS ZZ-X cam instead of the ZZ-409 that I initially planned on. Because of this, i'll need larger injectors, Fuel Pump, different stall (3000 was recommended) converter and more. With that in mind, I originally thought by February I would be looking to disassemble and rebuild my motor and sell the runners. Considering more stuff I didn't plan on, I may extend through March or so before I start disassembly of motor. If push comes to shove and you (or anyone) made a committed offer to buy I could take them off and send them to you within the next couple of weeks, pending my work schedule and etc. Im not driving the car cuz of the salty roads up here in WI anyways. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.
My existing camshaft and Jet Chip stage 2 will be for sale also. I'll take reasonable offers on them, they are worth maybe $150 combined to me. Cam specs in my signature. 10,000 miles are on the camshaft and synthetic oil used changed every 3000 miles.

Thanks

What does anyone suppose a good set of used runners would go for? I don't want to try to rip anyone off, I never purchased these brand new before, to know what they are worth. They came with the car when I bought it. Open to offers and i will consider them from there. The sooner i sell them, the sooner I'll have money to buy my new parts. They will be off the car by early to mid-February. Thanks.

I'll get a start on removing them tonight. I have to hang a new light fixture in my garage prior to working on them, so that go fairly smooth and then should be out before February. I'll post again when completed and when I have better pics. Thanks for the response, talk to you soon.

Hey guys, a major financial set-back had taken place in the mail yesterday, this is going to hinder my modifications for quite some time. Got my surgery bill in the mail which I expected my insurance to cover, but they did not. With that said, I will not be upgrading to the MiniRam. As planned, that would have led to the SLP runners free to sell, but now they will be kept on the car. Im sorry about that. Its pretty bad, I MAY even have to resort to sellin the Car itself. *thought I would NEVER say that.
Any offers?
Not a cheap offer, let me know.
