***KINDA LONG*******TY SPELLING(its how i roll)***
the things ive lurned when installing summits tpi cam:
well ive got about 1:30 left of work befor i can start her up, what i have for a car see sig. (no turbo yet)
1: stock valve springs are week, and easly removed with socket/hammer and spark plug removed with air hose hook up and set to 40 psi
2: the motor has 130XXX on it and all the valve seals but 2 were ****, im talking all the seal part that hits the valve gone
3: carbon dioxside posioning sucks when you pass out and wake up, upchuck and then pass out again
4: a duble rollor chain and sprocket will fit under the stock timing housing
5: you dont have to take off the oil pan to put the timming covor back on if you take about 1/2 an inch form the botom that gos in the pan
6: useing rtv gasket maker for gaskets on the lower runners (were they attach to the intake mani) will not make the intake plunom fit right on top of the runners ( any one have a napa part # for the gaskets??????)
now for the ?
i blocked off the egr and took out the thing that controls the vac to it and the carcole canister ( witch was also removed) this will set codes i know but the car will still run??? and i got a low temp fan switch were is the one its going to replace?

The fan switch is usually on the driver-side head but check both of them.

Just dynoed my '86 today. It put down a very anemic 141hp/227tq. Thats only with K&N filters and no cat. The TQ comes in early but the HP drops off after 4500 rpms. Ive got to get this cam!!

Thats a relatively small cam, but i bet it makes a ton of torque and low end power.

you mean the .503 and .510 with 1.5 rockers? i have 1.6 pro comp magnums with that cam installed in my 355. I have yet to start it up as i switched from carbed setup to FI, so i had to convert everything. just tested my -6an fuel line setup again after fixing any leaks and so far there are none
I also installed an lt1 intake with accel 58mm tb, world products sportsman 2 heads, hooker 2210 lt headers. i need to make the cold air intake, finish up the wiring, and break it in. hope to break in in the next couple weeks. i will post how it feels
i talked to someone that installed this cam in a stock 350 tpi car and they said it was a big improvment over stock, but the stock tourqe converter was not high enough on the stall. Comp recomends a 2200 rpm stall i belive with this cam. just food for thought.
by the way, that is a huge cam for a 305. guys who have put a stock l98 cam in a 305 have great results, you should have spectacular.

This is a great cam to do an in-car cam swap into a mild 305 with, you'll have no worries about valve train problems, no head mods required, etc. I'm sure you could step up the cam size wise even more and if you're doing a more comprehensive rebuild or some head work or whatever you probably would be well advised to go bigger, but this a great cam to just throw in w/ no worries for a pretty significant gain over stock IMO.
It idles fairly aggressively in my old IROC, but it could probably use some custom tuning and cut down on that some...
Swapping this cam in was my first major engine work I'd done, learned a lot doing it and nothing was a big problem or obstacle. Hardest part if I recall correctly was actually trying to get the timing chain cover back on without loosening the oil pan or tearing up the gasket there, lol.
