Alright so i was lookin on jegs today and they got a great kid that im intrested in. It says its for your 88 to 95 TPI. Can i use this kit on my 86 TPI? http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...1191&langId=-1

I'm guessing the only difference is the distributor. If you have a remote mount ignition coil then you could do it although stock 86s had in-cap coil. Just check under your hood to see if its been changed out. If you see 9 spark plug looking wires on the distributor cap then that kit *should* work.

The air filter in that kit is for speed density.

ok ill check for 9 wires then, but what is the speed density, i dont know much about tpi, i just got this car and trying to build it to be reliable for me to drive everyday.

Speed density is 90-92, it measures the air through vacuum rather than using a MAF (mass air flow sensor) used from 85-89.

so y would they say it fit on 88 to 95 if speed density didnt come in until to 90. I think it should prolly work with my car, but i dont want to spend that money and it not work.

They may say it just to sell the product. But either way if you have a MAF that air filter will not work. Everything else should be the same. Dont try and use that filter if your car is MAF.

Just a follow up. I dont know why it says 88-95 TPI. TPI's last year was in 92, correct me if im wrong. It would work if your system was converted.
