Cold Start Deletion Question
I have '86 TPI setup with harness to install on my Monte. I wanted to delete the cold start injection; so I bought a set of '89+ runner and fuel rail to keep from having to block any of the CSI stuff off. Do I need to use a '89+ throttle body now so that the engine gets idle air?
I did some searching, but couldnt come up with a direct answer to this question.
Thanks.

Duts87ss,
i don't think you will need the later throttle body as long as you keep the '86 plenum but i am not sure. hopefully someone can give you a more definitive answer.
would you be willing to sell the cold start injector and the extra set of fuel rails you have? LMK if so and how much.

If you don't have a leaking injector, all you really have to do is unhook the electrical connectors from the CSI, and change PROMS. I did that for a few months untill I ripped the TPI apart to rebuild it. Then I did the SLP runners and did a home brew fuel rail block off.
You do not need to change the throttle body.

I'm thinking I may just have the '86 TB I have machined to match a '89+ TB. I'll take a '89+ TB gasket and machine out the area where the gasket is open.

I have '88 TPI intake, blocked CSI port, plugged fuel rail, I'm using a '89 Corvette ARAP bin.
I also bored out the '88 TB with an air foil installed to 52mm, and deleted the TB coolant system.
No idle problems. The idle is higher than stock, but that's because of the cam & stroke.

Not at all. Knock on wood, runs perfect. Just need to get the suspension all straightened out, and will be perfect.
