Engine hits brick wall
I'm looking for a few friendly opinions from those who have been there before me. My engine starts to nose over at around 56-5,700 and hits a brick wall right around 6K. With AFR 195's, HSR, and a cc306 cam (230/244). I understand this cam is supposed to be shifted around 6,500 to get the most out of it. I'm suspecting my 5 yr. old stock replacement fuel pump. Thanks in advance.

how about that five year old fuel filter or the ignition module?
hook up a fuel pressure gauge and rev it...

Right. You may be running out of fuel at the higher rpm's. Your engine may be trying to make more horsepower than the pump can put out.

fuel/ignition is a good place to start....What are you running for exhaust? A restrictive exhaust will kill the topend.

If you have the stock AFR springs, you may be running into valve float, which'll act as an internal rev limiter. I know of others with AFR heads that had to swap out the valvesprings due to this problem...

I'll second the valve float idea. That really stops a motor from revving. It'll also tend to break valve train components. That's a lot of cam, so I'd really look into new valve-springs first.
