vortec tpi intake
i just bought a gmpp vortec tpi intake and was wondering if there is a plate that is supposed to bolt to the bottom. it didnt come with one and i dont know where to get one. can i use it without one?

Take it off your stocker or get one used.
Can still order from GM to I believe.
Basically its just an oil splash shield to keep it off the bottom of the intake.

Yes, you can use it without it... I kind of forgot to transfer it from my old intake the first time... No ill effects...

ok. truth be told though, i figured it was just like the heat shield off a carbed motor that ive ripped a few off already.
i bolted this gmpp intake on and now when i got to looking it appears that one of the retaining bolts for that plate go all the way through into one of the intake runners. thats bad.
can anybody confirm this?

can't confirm that. I used a scoggin-dickey manifold. It might be an EGR port or cold start passage? If not, ya gotta pop it off, and stick a bolt in there to seal it up.

they look like egr passages or cold start. Unless you can stick a peice of wire up through the bolt holes for the mounting screw and see it poke through, those holes should be there. If you see the wire, then you need to plug the holes with loctited bolts.
