TPI vortec

I have been doing some searching to find out wether or not I can take advantage of the vortec heads and still keep the Tpi system. I stumbled across this website. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...e_vortec_head/

It is very possible to have a vortec TPI engine. All that you need is a Vortec TPI compatible manifold. Just thought that I would share with everyone.

You are correct. Edelbrock makes that manifold to.

How about if one were to take the complete Vortec Engine and put that on, would it work?

I think I might personally consider that to be a bit of a downgrade myself... The Vortec engines are already multi-port, sequentially injected engines with manifolds well suited to the engine. Switching it out to a mid 80s batch fired multi-port system isn't gonna help it a whole lot...

Would probally work alright though!

What you do is take a Vortec engine, harness, ECM and all and put the TPI system on top. You'll have to rewire the injector connectors, but you'll have sequential MPFI on a long-tube runner intake, and since DIY tuning is supported for the Vortec ECMs you can get the calibration right and have a great torque maker with the efficiency of sequential injection. The only issue I can forsee is whether you could find a distributor cap for the Vortec dizzy that will clear the driver's side intake runners.

I've had the Scroggins-Dickey high-flow intake system with GMPP fast burn alum heads on my '88 IROC-Z with '89 eprom since 2001.
I would like SEFI, but I haven't researched enough to know what PCM/harness I need to keep my small-cap HEI distributor, LTx opti-spark is out of the question. LSx is distributorless and I think a better option, but would intail adding cam & crank sensors.

Vortec distributor cap on TPI

Do I need the complete Vortec distributor to get the horizontal wire configuration?, or will the cap fit on my TPI small cap HEI distributor?
