87 TPI, Roller Motor??
I am the proud new owner of a 1987 Iroc with 305 TPI. I notice under heavy acceleration in the power band of second gear, i can hear valves rattling. Is mine a Roller Motor or not? If so can valve las be adjusted?

it can be a roller motor but i believe that they came factory with flat tappet lifters. they have the holes in the valley for the spider that holds the lifters down but i don't think they are actually installed. 87 was the last year they weren't roller lifters from the factory i believe

i know the 87 blocks at the very least can be made roller very very very easily and they really are the same block minus two holes in the lifter valley to hold the lifter spider down. the holes can be drilled very very easily

That's interesting. Never the less, the valve lash can be adjusted on either type of lifter. You may want to think about installing new valve springs as well.
