New Engine Build Up - Cause Probs For Old PCM Chip?
Alright, for the last three weeks I've been tinkering with the Camaro's engine... pulling it out and freshening a few things and installing a few new things, and hope to have the engine running by tomorrow, but I have a question...
I just finished installing a LT4 Hot Cam, new springs, lifters, and new exhaust... but the car is not tuned for this new setup, it's still tuned for the stock cam/valvetrain. My car isn't going to 'not run' since it's not tuned for the new cam, right? I mean, it'll still start up, idle, and respond to throttle, just not at it's full effectiveness, correct? I had the car tuned by PCMForLess bout half a year ago, but definately not tuned for the new setup...

ITs gonna be rich as all heck down low.
That cam will slide the powerband over and make it rich, especially at idle and low throttle openings.
Gonna get some surging in there too.
I would recommend waiting to start it until u can pull some fuel out of it and can monitor it when u do start it.
Prom board here is great for beginners if u can read. Check it out, u could be doing it for less than u r paying to have it done.

But at the very least, I could start it for a few minutes and give it a tap or two on the throttle to make sure everything is working, correct? The engine has been out of the car for 3 weeks while all this stuff has been getting done, I'd hate to have'ta wait another week for me to send in my chip and wait for it to come back before I can see if I got my car setup right or not.

Speaking of injectors, that reminds me. I'm still on stock injectors, would you guys recommend upgrading? What size? 24? Heck, I don't even know what size the stock injectors are.

U can do it that way if u want and pretty much guaranteed to at least start the process of washing the rings down.
I like to do it right the first time.
I've used that cam I do my own tuning and I can tell him what is going to happen with 100% certainty.
Not smelling it means nothing, use a wideband and do some datalogging tells a very different story.

Haha, eh... you guys are making it tough on me.
Sure, I'd love to start it up and take it around the block even if the car wasn't running at full capabilities but if it's not a good idea to do that, then I won't. I just want to know straight-up what I need to do so I don't do the wrong thing, ya know.
