air intake for 58mm throttle body

Hi everyone,
I am a new member and am looking for help finding an aftermarket cold air intake. I have an 85 Trans Am with a 383, Accel super ram, and 58 mm throttle body. Does anyone know of a company that makes a cold air intake for a larger than stock throttle body? Or better yet a universal kit? The prices they charge for aftermarket cold air kits is crazy. Thanks.

I bought the Ebay 3 inch cold air kit for 85-89 Maf firebird's. It's chrome and it come's with a reusable KN type filter. It costed me 55 with shipping. But now I'm about to install a 383 with a 58mm BBK. So I'm kinda wondering the same thing.

I was looking online, but I only saw ones for 88 and later trans ams. Do you know what company or site you bought it from. 55 bucks sounds a lot better than 285 and it's probably just as good. Thanks.

I was looking at the 90+ CA kit on ebay. When the seller told me it was 3" diameter pipe though I decided to make my own. I should be able to make my own in 3.5 or 4 inch for about the same price.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think the biggest problem would be finding the adapter that goes on the throttle body.

i have the (way too expensive) slp cold air kit on my 89. i had to take a heat gun to the t.b. elbow but it slipped right on after that.

I don't know the link for the e bay cold air intake. But I'm pretty sure they make a setup for all maf sensor cars. But does anyone know if I'll need a bigger boot to attach to my 58mm tb?

Re: air intake for 58mm throttle body

I'm not sure if you will or not. I guess you'll have to see how tight it is on the throttle body. I found some aftermarket couplers online for about $20 that may fix your problem. Just type in 'silicone reducing couplers' and you should find it. These adapt smaller pipes to bigger pipes with one coupler. If you look at some of the other forums, there are quite a few about DIY custom intakes that are very nice and cheap to make. Hope this helps.
