 Need some help

I have a 1986 IROC-Z28 305 TPI.The prob that i'm having is that when I start it hot or cold the idle go's up relly high and I have to wait 3 to 5 min for it to go down so I can put it in gear.I've done everything that I can think of to fix the prob. The new part's that I put in are: TPS,IAC,CAP,ROTOR,TEMP SENSOR,I checked all my vac line's,and had my fuel injection system checked and it's okay.I don't know what to do now this has been going on for far to long it's been 3 month's that i'v been fighting with it...Please help Thank's Frankie

If I were you I'd go look in the tech articles section of the main site, and do the IAC reset procedure. Most then likely that's what your problem is.

Well things that I know that can speed up and idle to high. Timing beinbg set to far in advance, vacume leaks arount the intake track can cause this big time, and sticking throttle bores. Ok for the timing, check it, the procedure is in the tech atrticles. For intake leaks do this, before the car gets warm get a can of carb cleaner and spray a light bit around where ever there is a gasket and listen to see if the idle picks up, if it does there is a leak there. If your throttle bores are sticking ,you would notice this driving it that sometimes you have to tap under the gas to get the gas completly off, you just have to live with it or buy a new TB. Most likely it is a leaking gasket I would try that route first

Have you tried cleaning the IAC passage ways out?. Just a carb cleaner type operation

Thank's for the help.I've checked for leaking gasket's with carb cleaner and the timing okay, and I have also cleaned out the tb and all passage's.The idle will go down in time as it's running but I shouldn't have to wait for it to do so...Thank you Frankie

How about the throttle body? Are the blades closing all the way. Mine used to trip every once in a while and a shot of WD 40 or just plain motor oil where the sping is was enough to fix it. It might have something to do with metal expanding when engine is warm, therefore loosening up and bringing the throttle down. just a suggestion
