Engine Combo Questions

Here's my combo

350 TPI
LT4 HotCam
stock heads
1.5 rockers
TPIS intake manifold
AS&M Runners
Edelbrock Long Tubes
no cat, single flowmaster (40 series, I think)
MSD 6 AL
3.23 posi rear
TPIS custom chip

What kind of rwhp numbers can I expect from this combo?
What would the next step be to get more out of it?
Would getting a dyno tune be worth it considering the TPIS chip?

Re: Engine Combo Questions

id say you will have around 260rwhp 370ft/lbs

stock 350tpi was like 215rwhp 315ft/lbs

putting a different tuned port intake on there could help out more, like a hsr or mini ram.
id say the next step would be to put a stroker kit in there, or just put new pistons and +++ the compression up a little more

Re: Engine Combo Questions

stock 350tpi only had 215hp and 330 ftlbs stock at the motor.... so theres no way thats at the wheels. id say 190 at the wheels. most do 1.6rr on the stock cam and a catback and they are in the 200-210rwhp range

id say thats about right... might wanna port the hell outa the plenum and base even more... or get a new intake but u just spent like over 1000$ on urs. wat Throttle body u running? id go wit a 52mm but stock is ok untill ur running 350hp. also get an airfoil and a cold air system. also ur exhaust u didnt state long tubes shorties or ... w/e. the heads are killin u... if ur using stock... port the polish the ***** outta it. 1.6 rollers are worth 15hp at least and the hot cam ur suppose to use the 1.6rr to get the .525 lift. but u'll have to upgrade the springs and get screw in studs and with that price... just buy new heads i was gona do wat u did... but it wasnt worth it. also to get more acceleration i would get 3.42 in the rear so u stay in ur powerband. 3.23/3.42 are good for the TPI bc of its low RPM power but the 3.42 will give u alil more and vortecs will give u an instant 40hp over stock but ur intake mite not work unless its machined for both styles.

im doin this....

hot cam
1.6rr
HSR
195cc aluminum patriot heads
58mm TB
383
custom tune
and my longtubes with 3" true duals with xpipe that i already got on.

now thinkin of Compcams XFI cam so i can go from my 450 crank hp to around 500hp

Re: Engine Combo Questions

The heads are not stock....I can't remember exactly what they are.... 58 cc chambers.... 10.5:1 compression ratio I think. Also the headers are edelbrock long tubes... not sure of the number exactly. Throttle body is a 52mm.

Re: Engine Combo Questions

stock heads are 58cc and thats high comp ratio... ur gona be running high test. ive also never heard of edelbrock making longtubes for our cars.... they make a shorty kit with ypipe but no longtubes. only headman/hooker/dougs etc and i think flowtech.

Re: Engine Combo Questions

They say edelbrock on the side and the collectors are down by the oil pan..... I was just assuming those were long tubes... was I wrong? How much longer can the tubes get?

She still needs some work before dyno (i.e. repairing vacuum leaks, tune up, etc.... hopefully in the spring I'll have some numbers)

my hooker long tubes have 1-3/4"diam x 28"long primaries with a 7"long x 3"diam collectors. I remember the spec's just not the prt #2055 maybe...
