I know that my car is a 1986 z28 but what motor is in it my aunt said that
she special orderd it late in 86 mt tach redlines at 5000 rpms I dont get it I have raced against good running iroc's and have beatin them with my car
my car also has a possi rear end which it isnt supposed to eathier
please let me know thank you what do you think my car runs in the quarter mile I know its fast I can spin first thrue third and yes it is a automatic

If your 86's motor is orginal, then you have a 305 TPI motor. 10 bolt rear ends are common. To learn more about your car find the RPO codes under the center console lid and do a search on what you find.

GM did not install 350's in pre-87 Camaro's. If the motor has been replaced, the only way of knowing what it may be is to get the numbers off of the front or rear of the engine.

 

already had the motor looked at when my heads wer done they said it was a 350 plus when I replaced my fuel pump it was for a 350 tpi my heads that are on my car are weird because the valve cover bolts are around the outside like the older style

 

305, if its stock it wont burn though 3 if its a 700r4, and if you dont strip the rear end it will probaly run high 14 to 15, if it is what you say it is than dont take it to the track most likely your going to get a mad tick for the flex plate. i have an 87 and went through all the problem's your going through good luck man if your going to race this car start getting student loans to pay for it like i did,.

I'm not convinced that it isnt a 305. Centerbolt heads werent put into production until 87! Pre-87 heads have the valve cover bolts on the outside of the head (old school style). Many parts inter-change with the 350... and the 305 / 350 look just the same. Get dirty and find the casting numbers.

for some reaseon the garage i went to told me that it is a 350 .p.s they said my motor must have been changed at some point because the cam was changed in my car. T his is one of the reaseons why I wanted to just put another motor in it so i new what i was dealing with

The one iroc I raced said he ran a 14.2 in the 1/4 and I beat him bye a car .
so I dont know ive never been to the track .maybe you can give me your guess

 

my car back than ran low 15's, with it i have blown away other i-roc's and bin beaten by v6 f-bodys, camaros are not fast stock you make them fast that why im fabing a twin turbo kit

both burn up at the same time but when i checked my rpo codes my rear end is out of a 89 z28 iam baffled

it says my rear end is a GU2 rear 273 gears ..but MINE is a possi any b ody with a guess because the gu2 wasnt offerd according to the links i found for 86 but thats what my rpo code says

 

i know what happend who ever had the car before had the same kinda powerful motor when they lunched the car the rear end blew up, than they got a junk yard rear end. and Its a 5.slow unless its a creat in 86 like 12 cars were made with the 350 and without a limmited slip you dont have one

 

so what was the GU2 rear end?? why does it say it was in my car on my rpo codes but when i checked it said that that gu2 was offerd in 89 ...?I must have the 350 that some one must have swapped in
